Thank god they did away with the gawdy chrome treatment.

BTW any idea if rear wipers are available on lower trims? Dunno why manufacturers don't see that as a safety feature

Then why is MSIL shy of launching a fully exhaustive variant list? According to the dealers, the Baleno Alpha CVT is a huge hit and carries a high waiting period ( as long as the MT). What is holding them from doing the same in Swift then? The AMT ZXI/ZDI misses out on the touchscreen and possibly the android/apple car play too. There is talk of them taking the lead in launching the hybrid version of the swift in India while on the other hand they are still skeptical in launching a fully loaded AT car.
I don't quite get that either. There is a ready market out there which has jumped onto the AMT bandwagon and would like those very features the Zxi+ boasts of.

Btw, if there is no touch screen infotainment system, there is no Apple Car Play too. The former is a prerequisite for the latter.

I think fuel efficiency figures will be similar to the new Dzire. There is hardly and difference between kerb weight of new Dzire and new Swift. Had new Swift been equipped with a CVT transmission then efficiency figures would have been much different.

Sooner or later MSIL will launch top variant equipped with auto transmission. Following the Baleno Alpha CVT’s launch, the top-spec petrol and diesel Ignis models also got the AMT gearbox. Its just how car manufacturers create hype and buzz regarding different variants of a particular car model.

Does the new Swift have a segment first, all round disk brakes?

The question is why did they shy away from launching it right away at launch? Atleast they didn't have any qualms about the success of the car and neither did they need to assess the market response and things like that, excuses which the other manufacturers hide behind. I was keenly holding myself from booking the Baleno alpha CVT and this has come as a huge disappointment.

I understand your disappointment buddy. I am looking forward to buy new Dzire but with launch of new Swift, I have suddenly started disliking interiors of the Dzire. Interiors of new Swift are so cool and sporty because of all black and especially the climate control unit. The one on Dzire feels so old school now. Its like I wish new Dzire had same interiors like the new Swift, which is never going to happen.

New Swift looks very compact but can seat two six-footers back-to-back. Has enough legroom, shoulder room and even headroom

Exactly my thoughts. The baleno suddeny looks so dated in comparison to this that I was willing to opt for an AMT instead of the CVT box on the Baleno. But MSIL has decided to spoil the party for some of us out there.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

Looking at the pics of the interiors, it looks like the MID has the plain white text on black background. I was hoping that the new Swift would get the fancy colorful MID that the Baleno Alpha variant and RS models come with.
Reserved for the Sports model perhaps !

All-new Swift's Z_i+ vs the Z_i, exteriors look-wise:

Quote:
Only top spec Z+ cars get the darker headlamps with LED DRLs and projector elements. They also get two-tone chrome and black alloys. Lesser variants seen here are the automatics with plain silver wheels and halogen headlamps.

No

The first hatchback with all round disc brakes was Hyundai i20. Then, we've Abarth Punto, Maruti Baleno RS etc

Walk around video

The only query I have is: where is the rear camera mounted?? In UK, it's bang on the middle of the Hatch. If they have mounted it above number plate then won't it be too low?? And show just the tarmac
