Santro will slot above the eon and below the grand i10 which itself is half a segment below the swift.

From what I can gather after perusing the Santro thread and various news sources, there is a lot of variation in the price estimates and the segment they'll be catering to. I've heard of starting price of 3L to other estimates of 4-6L, the latter puts it in the bracket of the Swift. It's really disparate.

As for the segment, it has again been rumours, replacing the outgoing i10 or replacing Eon or placed between the Eon and i10. Personally, I feel it's going to be placed between the Eon and i10 too.

Both the Santro and Swift proved to be workhorses for their respective manufacturers, with both cars making a debut at the Autoexpo, the Swift has had an advantage over Santro by the early on unveiling in India and global debuts. The Santro project has been kept under tight wraps, almost makes you wonder when they'll be launching the car if they haven't been doing the requisite road tests already. There is 0 information about the car's interior or even exterior.

As someone who has been considering the Swift as my next car, I am waiting to see what Hyundai has to offer with their Santro. After all, it was the car that made the company and they have a reputation to live up to. Something tells me they won't disappoint.

I spotted 1 (or) 2 2018 Swift's in Midnight Blue shade doing rounds near Technopark Trivandrum on Monday evening.

Sorry could not take snap as I was driving.

I see this Swift going straight to 20k a month on the sales chart.
I doubt they will offer a RS variant. This variant is already existing in Baleno which is their premium offering. Moreover, the RS variant of Baleno has not even accounted for 1% of Baleno sales. So, it is highly unlikely.

Sure, swift may notch up 20K in sales and the VXI variants may be a big hit

From what I am hearing, the 1.4L Sports Edition might turn out to be a very distant dream. ("Seemingly not feasible", in MSIL slang)

The RS with the 1.0L Boosterjet is definitely on the cards. It will follow the normal 2018 Swift's launch in around 6 months' time.

Will the booster jet edition come with a cruise control? This feature I believe is missing from the current offering.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

Here is the SWIFT RS ( 1.0L Boosterjet- 126 hp) for the Italian rally.

Quote:
The Suzuki Swift 1.0 Boosterjet RS, the "racing" version of the small Japanese prepared for racing in rallies (starting from March 25th will race in the 2018 Rally Trophy Championship and, from April 29th, also in the Suzuki Rally Cup), is lighter and compact (but has a longer wheelbase and wider track width) of the Swift Sport 1600 R1 which won the Italian R1 championship in 2016 and 2017. The engine is the 1.0 three-cylinder turbo 12-valve direct injection, lightweight and small size. Suzuki's Boosterjet technology employs a compact, low inertia turbocharger, which works from low revs and, combined with direct injection, ensures high combustion efficiency.

Hi ashbhat2,

The Solid red color is mentioned as non-metallic because it does not have any ground metal flakes in the paint. The paint will not have the shimmer under bright sunlight unlike the other colors.

Usually the non metallic colors would be ~5-6k cheaper than metallic colors.

This is the only reason and IMHO the solid red though non-metallic is a looker.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

Is there any information currently available, that hints at any possibility of the new swift getting the diesel DDiS engine from Brezza? The 90hp variant?

That in this car with AMT would be an amazing combination, I would think.

Absolutely not possible, the swift cannot have a higher state of tune than the dzire or the baleno!!

Thank you Shashi but it is in Hindi and sorry I dont know.

Did he compared the steering feel of the Baleno and the Swift ? If yes what is the outcome ?

I would like to know whether the steering feel is same for both cars or the newer Swift's steering is even more lifeless.

He has just covered the specifications, nothing you can't read from the brochure of the three cars. There is no verdict given based on driving or riding experience.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

All new Swift is likely to be priced at a premium in comparison to the outgoing model.
As per today's article in ET Auto, it is likely to be priced Rs 60K more than the current price list.

Quote:
Maruti Suzuki to price all-new Swift at Rs 5.83 lakh in India
Quote:
The most-awaited car of the year may be priced Rs 60,000 more than the existing range, according to the sources. Currently, Maruti Suzuki Swift starts at Rs 5.23 lakh in India, which means it is likely to be bracketed in the Rs 5.83-8 lakh price sticker.
If true, IMO they are being a bit over optimistic.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

I got a chance to check the new Swift today which just arrived for display.

There is no badge on the version nor on whether it is a petrol or diesel (Ex: DDIS). I couldn't find any reference even in the engine bay.

I was told that this is a ZXi+ model and pricing will be 40-50K less than the current Dzire.

Here are few pics,

No engine guard and I couldn't see any DDiS/VVT badge as well.
