Using regenerative braking to provide extra power when required is another interesting feature which I believe is not offered in many other cars.

Few pictures from the MG Hector launch.
The car is loaded with features and creature comfort, MG is surely starting with a bang.
Pricing will be the key to this launch, will also suggest which segment cars they want to take on.

Dashboard dominated by that BIG screen. Reverse camera seems to have good clarity in indoor lighting.

It does look massive and has a presence for sure. And, Hector tag line is 'It's a human thing'.

Infinity is from the same family as JBL, and in my experience - built to last.

I was talking about how they're marketing the connectivity features. More so when they plan on sticking a badge for the same.

The presentation was a bit amateurish compared to industry standards, as if the speakers had stage fright.

The car does look exciting and if they can keep it well priced and reliable, this one might just create records in the coming months.

But I sort of don't understand the concept of dividing the launch of a car into 2 sessions, something that most brands seem to be following these days. No matter how good the initial market response would be, it is the pricing that dictates the success. Infact just like the Harrier launch, this has a huge potential to backfire since you make prospective buyers drool thinking of all those features and then limit them to the highest or limited variants, leading to disappointment and a not so good brand recall in the minds of buyers.

The fact that pricing is not revealed could mean that MG is still studying the market dynamics. SIAC is a cash rich company and they may follow the usual Chinese way of capturing markets. Sell it cheap during the initial period and then gradually increase prices for new launches. Considering the looks and features ,Hector looks like a serious contender.

Agree on the stage fear thing, they were scrambling for words.

They did mention that the base will NOT be a stripped down version of the top of the line model and it will also be loaded.

The version wise feature list has been already shared by a BHPian, it didn't look bad. Lets see how they price it

Correct. Flat floor for the second row was another thing that I got to know from the unveil.

I think they wanted to reveal everything fully, so that the market takes time to understand the reality that this is a premium product alongside Harrier and Compass. And set their expectations of the pricing accordingly.

And not a Creta / Duster rival.

Today, I was at my mechanics looking at a "German" Polo TSI. 1 year old, 18000 km. It needed new suspension since the "German" manufacturers had specified low quality components - Hydraulic as opposed to Gas filled struts, poorly finished components.

Don't blame the country, blame the manufacturer. I might add, most Chinese product failures might have happened due to random importing of items without validating if it met customer requirements.

While the jury is out on the Hector, my observation is that the local (Indian!) management have put in a lot of work to adapt a Chinese model for India. It might work, or it might not but we need to see.

Panoramic Roof, Ambient lighting, Fancy ICE, Hybrid option, autobox and comfortable interior! Looks like a good recipe for success. Make or break part would be reliability and A.S.S!

Even if this product doesn't become extremely successful, it has potential to push other car makers to offer more equipment to stay competitive. Win-Win situation for us customers.

I have lately been checking these panel gaps in parked vehicles after the discussion in the Harrier thread, and I find that even super expensive vehicles seem to have these panel gaps when viewed at certain angles. I have refrained from taking photographs not wanting to obviously offend the owners.

Have they put the switch for the Fog lights on the stalk along with wipers whereas the lights itself are controlled from the RHS stalk?
