The first car we had was a 1995 Zen White color. Extremly great machine.
I sold it off in 2005 April...
Jan 2005 I had bought a V2 DLS and July 2005, we got an Esteem LXi. Its been very long journey but with lesser number of cars. They've been quite loyal to us actually....

Chetan, there is no Maruti 800 16V engine. I think you mean 12V.

The LTD was a metallic brown and she was Australian not American. RHD. Awesome car but we always had problems with her. The horn was the entire rim of the Steering Wheel and anytime u wanted to honk, u just squuese the steering or just tighten the grip. Then we sold it to a friend in Bombay who coloured it white and used it for lending it for weddings. Last I saw it was in Nepaensea rd in White and that was a good few years ago. She was registered MMF 1800.

My Grandad was a BIG guy and so wanted to be comfy in the rear seat so the way to go was American hugies. Thats why I learnt driving on the 66 Belair V-8 LHD Auto. Hence my fascination and preference to big cars.

D Fox believe me id love to post the pics ...If only I had em. I was a kid till the abmy, even tough as im sure most of us petroheads, im learnt driving when I was really young around 14 and then had the chevies ( Impala and Belair) till a good many years after I officially got a driving licence.
I even remember the nos of most of them ( which added up to a total of 9 as most of my my present cars do too)
Unfortunately dont have any of them with me now. See my gallery for my present collection. I think I just might have a pic or two of the Olds and the chevy somewhere alsong with a 1974 Datsun sports coupe 1200 (only wish it were a 240 Z)

No problem friend.I still envy you for having and enjoyed the things we lust to have a glimpse of,

And hats off to your seniors who had such excellent taste back then.It just feels nice to see the three generations in your Family enjoy automobiles in such regular and phased intervel's,

Party harder old chap, these things are never enough for likes of us.

really interesting threads...
i'd like to mention cars my family owned..
dad was a lucky child, grandad gifted him his first car couple of years before i was born, while he was still studyin..

1982 - silver padminin(i was born in 84)

1989 - white padmini.. really liked its box pattern rexine interiors!!

1992 - white '87 m800 - added wheel caps, tints , rain protectors.. looked quite good then!

1995 - '91 white gypsy hardtop. . was amazing, took it on one long trip.. absolutely trouble free.. we had to go off the road at around 80kmph, and it was a 1 feet drop.. the car took it in style exhibiting it's rally genes!! we just continued on our journey!!
Was hardly practical in city, besides the person at the back(most often me) got tossed around!!
Dad actually cried while selling it!

1999 - golden santro - really fond of the car.. carries out the role of a perfect family car!! taken on couple of trips, not more than 300k.. absolutely trouble free.. minimum expenses..
don't think we'll be able to sell this car.. even my mom got attached to it!!!!

I started drivin in grandads 1st gen 800(DBA 7281) and dads gypsy.. '96
Will hopefully be able to buy my own car in another 5-8 months, once i finish my BE and start workin.. intend to get an old esteem, lets see..
