Re: Auspicious dates & times for car deliveries | Do you believe in it?

All days are auspicious days for me, I can’t wait for the beast to get delivered to me as early as possible.

Only thing I did it with my Toyota Corolla Altis 1.8G was registered the car on my Mom’s Birthdate.

Comments seem like 90% No, the ones who voted Yes don't seem to be commenting

I personally don't believe in such stuff, but complied to wife's requests during my cars delivery as it was 1-2 days here and there.

Before that I haven't ever done this, nor did my dad. We never even did puja of any vehicle we purchased

Re: Auspicious days & times for car deliveries | Your thoughts

I am not that much into auspicious day but I follow them to respect my wife's peace of mind. I am okay to delay something by few days so that we can enjoy our ownership. Forget about taking delivery, we check the date even for making the advance payment

I don't even know what's considered auspicious and inauspicious.

Give me the car once its ready and without unnecessary hassles.

By mistake click "YES".
My vote is for "NO".

I don't bother about the date and time for any occasion; be it a marriage, buying a house, or anything else. Just it should be convenient for everyone.

And if it is a car.. today is the best day.

Re: Auspicious days & times for car deliveries | Your thoughts

While there are no specifics as to when we book a car, we always try to make sure that we get it on an auspicious day. To be very opposite of what GTO has experienced, of all the cars we have driven, the ones we took on auspicious days have been in the family, not only for long but have served us extremely well. Won't say not the case was otherwise the other vehicles, but yes, we did face some problems. Whether it would be a two-wheeler (including a bicycle) or a four-wheeler(s). For reference, a Bajaj Discover which we bought in 2007 served us beautifully till 2021, while we faced a lot of technical problems with our Chevrolet Sail UVA bought at a very weird time in the stockyard in December 2012! We sold it in April 2015, replaced by our lovely Ertiga, whose delivery was incidentally shifted to an auspicious day. She served us through all the highs and lows uprightly for 7 long years.

The Ertiga's replacement, the Brezza was bought home on Dusshera. Let's hope it keeps up with the tradition.

Re: Auspicious days & times for car deliveries | Your thoughts

I voted Yes. The family considers auspicious dates and time.

Rules go like below:
1. No getting the car home on a Saturday
2. My Nani was particular of not getting a new car home during the Waning part of the moon
3. My dad used to check the best hour of the day (Labh or Amrit) to leave home and get the car for delivery

I myself am a bit flexible on the 2nd rule though.

Re: Auspicious days & times for car deliveries | Your thoughts

Most probably 90 percent of the accidents happen to vehicles taken on auspicious days, undergone Puja etc.

Never cared for auspicious days for first car, first house etc. And never will.

And how did you come to the percentage? Any stats to support? Its quite a generic statement to be honest. Probably no one would know if the accident vehicle was taken on which day unless someone personally asks each and every accident vehicle

Re: Auspicious days & times for car deliveries | Your thoughts

Absolutely Yes.

A car/bike is a big milestone in an typical Indians life.

There are Auspicious and Inauspicious times.
Also there are no guarantees if you take the delivery of the vehicle at an auspicious time, you wont get into an accident. These two things have to be de-linked.

BTW If you are a nut behind the wheel, law of averages will catch up...

cheers,
ac

Re: Auspicious days & times for car deliveries | Your thoughts

For me, it is a strong Yes.

Whatever भारतीय संस्कृती (Indian culture) taught us from childhood days, मुहूर्त (auspicious time) is part of life.

It is possible few are selective as to when to follow this tradition like they will follow for marriage like important days but may not follow for other days.

On Dassera we do Pooja of our car. It's because it's auspicious day. Another thought on this, why do we give name to our cars? It may mean to many that it is part of our family.

Enough of pondering. At the end it is "Yes" for me.

No. We are atheists and not doing pooja and not following auspicious days are a part of our tradition. Usually, our car delivery is an event with no ribbon and no pooja.

We all are floating in space.

The calendar was made after we learnt counting.

The Galaxy I see at night, if someone sees Earth from that Galaxy which is 10 billion light years away, will see dinosaurs not us on earth. As it took 10 billion light years for earth's light to reach them!

We are just mangled up in 365 day calendar and 24 hours time.

The earth is only 4.5 billion years old. So, that won't happen.
