re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2022 | EDIT: It's the Scorpio-N

As a newbie, I don't have voting rights however, if I had, my vote would be for Scorpio N. A driver's car powerful engine, , has fine a balance between sophistication and ruggedness. Multiple variant packages, got something for all pockets. Most of the car variants have features for every age group in the family.

My vote goes to Scorpio N.

My reasons :

It has evolved in a big way than earlier scorpio.Be it interiors, exterior look & overall package & refinement at that price point.

Also it appeals to people from all corners of "Bharat".

It is truly India's aspirational vehicle.

Grand Vitara and Hyrider should have been clubbed together to make the poll more interesting. Anyways, it is the same car.

Did not vote for the ScorpioN despite having an active booking (that I am thinking of cancelling), due to the fact that I did not find it either polished or VFM in comparison to the 7OO.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2022 | EDIT: It's the Scorpio-N

Voted for the Tiago EV. For being a COTY, my only criteria was which car catapulted the Indian car scene by a few years into the future..

It was a close call between Grand Vitara for democratising the Hybrid power train and Tiago EV for bringing this to the masses.

Didn’t consider the Scorpio-N despite that is what I would buy as it does the same things better but there is no novelty factor (for me )

The EV takes the crown for me as it has paved the way for Sub 10 lakh electric vehicles which was not heard of before ( if you discount the Reva / E20, which more novelty than utility )

The Tiago is what started the ride of Tata into the top rungs of auto manufacturers in India. The Tiago will now democratise the EV by bringing it to the reach of many Indians. Everything seems to going for it and I think we will see an explosion of EVs in the next 2 years.

If I were in the market today, the only car I would buy with my own hard earned money is the MG ZS EV. Since that was not an option in this poll (wasn't the facelift launched this year?), Atto 3 is the only one which outdoes the ZS EV in all measurable aspects but still manages to sell for below ₹50 lakh (unlike the EV6).

So, my vote goes to the Atto 3.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2022 | EDIT: It's the Scorpio-N

To me and many, the car has to make you feel special when you drive it. I would have voted for the skoda slavia as the car looks good and more importantly has sorted ride and handling, but it lacks a diesel engine. The 1.5 TSI engine is expensive.
Hence my vote goes to Hundai Tucson, its modern, has all the latest features and a torquey diesel engine, it’s a complete all rounder.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2022 | EDIT: It's the Scorpio-N

Voted for the Tiago EV. Why?

Well, does it have implications bigger than the product itself? You bet.

This is a product that looks to the future and hopefully kicks off a trend of launches at the lower end of the market. That’s got to be worth the billing of the Car of the year.

It also talks to the lead that Tata has built up in this space that they can pretty much take any product in their line up and produce a competent electric version, without breaking into a sweat!

Lastly, why didn’t I vote for the ScorpioN? Well it’s a dinosaur living in modern times. Another guzzling SUV, more of the same in a slightly eVolv(o)ed package!

Voted for Maruti Grand Vitara
Great package, with Maruti reliability + Toyota Hybrid tech, should turn out to be a great bridging option in market, which would slowly be transitioning from pure ICE-> Hybrid-> EV/BEV!
Cheers!

Voted for Scorpio N. The way Mahindra is evolving and releasing world class products is commendable. I have owned a 1st Gen XUV 5OO, currently own a XUV 7OO. Have driven the old and the new Scorpio N and they are worlds apart.

I would like to vote for Tiago EV. Tata has provided convenient and affordable EVs.

Still believe that there is a big mass waiting for Nano EV.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2022 | EDIT: It's the Scorpio-N

Voted for the Hyryder, as it has brought hybrid tech to the mass market and I believe this will have a lasting impact on our market. Same goes for Grand Vitara, but since I could choose only one, I went with the Hyryder since the hybrid tech comes from Toyota.

I had checked out the Scorpio-N when I was in India. I think it is a significant update and a milestone for Mahindra in their journey to build world class projects. But in terms of the impact on the automotive scene as a whole, I think Toyota/Maruti bringing hybrid tech is more significant milestone.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2022 | EDIT: It's the Scorpio-N

2022 had a decent number of new launches in our market. While there is the usual new engines/platforms and some new entrants, two cars stood out for me.

The Toyota/Suzuki collaboration launched its first proper product, and brings hybrid technology to the market. I know we are all petrol heads, but the silent cabin, amazing fuel efficiency, and proper kit beats the new petrol-only cars hands down.

And that brings me to my choice - the latest EV from Tata Motors. It brings this new technology to a segment below, and makes it the most affordable EV on sale in India today. Tata Motors have hit on a winning strategy with the Nexon EV, and are now doubling down on it, with compounding effects.

Cheers to Tata Motors, and to my fellow BHPians!
