Just came to know that Hydrashok gets FE of 5-6 kmpl on his Palio 1.2! He should now get a Palio 1.6 Stile! Ain't it?

BTW, Why does Palios give better mileage only on the forum? I'm yet to meet a Palio owner outside the forum who hasn't complained of it's FE! Coincidence?

Are you suggesting that all TBHPians who own Palios are all liars ? .. Anyway, you have contradicted your own statement by quoting Hydrashok getting a milage of 5-6 kmpl.

You are right about the Accord mileage and thats what my friend gets from his GTX, 8kmpl.
Another friend of mine who owns a Palio1.2NV is getting 11kmpl with sensible driving..

I seriously see no reason why Palio 1.6 is being compared in this thread.

I Know it is off topic but i am getting 11-11.5 on my 1.6 which has done 1000kms ..... so far i have been very light on throttle, max 2000-3000 RPM ...... i have track of amount of fuel in the car so this figure can't be wrong, one of my friend who has a 1.2 from past 3-4 years get around 12-13 in delhi with 70-80% AC

Mods i guess there is an oppurtunity for a FIATeam Bhp and a Team Bhp.

The Palio Stile 1.6 is here to show that we all are after F.E figures. We dont mind the wider tyres or the alloys or the linear power or the 100 BHP engine or the Feature list. The 1.6 gives 10-11 in city with a/c with sensible driving. If you hit hard on the accelerator the F.E would reduce. On highways i think (no first hand experience) it should be around 15km/l. I dont know why people expect more than this from such an engine.

Even I get 11kmpl with A/C in city in my 1.2 and I am very happy about it.

BTW, if I some how reduce the weight of the Palio (by about 300 kgs ) and its build quality, by stripping the car to something like the Suzuki's old gen vehicles (800,Alto,Zen,Estillo,Wagon, Esteem,Van etc), I am sure the Indian buyer would be thrilled with the FE. (Note: I haven't mentioned the Swift here. Not surprisingly, users don't report high FE for a Swift P)

Some how, FE seems to be the only priority while buying a car in India.

Some people find it difficult to comprehend the fact that, there are people who consider build quality, ride quality, comfort levels, space, handling, balance, high speed stability, even the additional weight as their top priority instead of FE ;-).

No wonder, Hero Honda Splendor still sells like hot cakes compared to the RE Bullet!!! (now is that off topic ? ;-))

Swift P has good sales and it does not give good FE. Well, not as much as the average Indian buyer expects at least.

I have voted for Swift DDis as I feel that it gives overall best package. I have now owned it for almost a year now and still there goes no day where I am not happily surprised by the performance of this car. You can never get bored by driving this car. Enjoy the turbo and throw it around the corners. Getz is more powerful but as other feel, IMO highly overpriced.

I also feel that Palio 1.6 shouldn't be in this poll. Over the last few pages this thread has become uninteresting and divided into Pro Fiat and Anti Fiat group.

Note from mod: Please stay on topic. Everybody who has an opinion, pro or anti fiat has voiced it quite enough, now this thread is turning into my car gives more FE than yours thread.

Well, in my honest opinion, Swift feels easy on roads!
Last Sat, i took a test drive of Palio 1.3 MJD, and the was surprised to find the poor interiors, gearshift and engine vibrations!

So my vote goes to Swift DDiS

Ummmm, not really. I have 205 section rubber that runs on 28 psi, a K&N Apollo CAI, and a right foot that has some attitude problem the moment I hit a "pushable" stretch (esp. post Apollo).

It does not help that I love the Apollo's muted roar in 2nd and 3rd, and the meaty (to me) top end. Keeping the revs in the meat-band all the time is a bit heavy on the pocket, but the fun I experience helps keep the shrink away.

My 1.2 never did give more than 10-11kmpl (best average) since when I bought it.

I also consistently get 16kmpl on the highway, post Apollo.

Zak and I had a bit of fun this weekend, on the way from the Karting track at the Cochin Intnl Airport to the next TBHP Meet-point at the Byepass. That was when the truth came out
