Someone wants to attract attention and has knocked of a X and added a D in the badge.

i don't think a SX4 Diesel is launched till now. Nothing heard anywhere till now. Even the showroom guys are not having any idea when its to be launched. It seems to be a fake VDi label

Probably MASS stuck the "d" instead of "x" when the badge has fallen

I dont see a test vehicle with permanent badge

Agreed. One of those attention seeking gimmicks.

To answer you all -

This was very near the Maruti Factory, hardly 3-4 kms away (near IFFCO chowk)
An elderly looking guy was sitting at the rear seat, and he sure didn't look like one who would bother pasting false stickers on the boot, i thought.

I found the number plate funny too as it seemed to be a private vehicle! A sardarji was driving the car. I wanted to tap his window to talk but just couldn't catch up as I was behind him most of the time and the traffic was horrible.

Hmm. the thread title fooled me, no offenses meant. I thought I could see pics of a SX4 VDi being tested. This doesnt look like a test mule, with a permanent registration number.
Any one has any updated news about the SX4 diesel launch?

There havent been reports of any test mules being seen and hence this seems like a sticker/badge job to me as well. Also, had MUL been ready with it, wouldnt the Auto Expo been the best place to launch it Wondering....

The registration number is HR26 AW 3422
AW series numbers belong to the vehicles registered in the 1st and 2nd quarters of 2009.This means that the diesel test mule woud have been produced in 1st quarter of 2009:thats also not possible. The AX series started from june end.So this is for sure that its not a diesel.
It may be the that the driver got the badge when the older one might have fallen off.
Or may be the old man's son got it for fun.
And this is for sure that the SX4 diesel is not near.Source : Reliable frm Maruti

SX4 diesel launch would be probably after they acquire the rights on using VW TDi . So it is definitely going to take time.

Confirmed News from very very reliable source: SX4 Diesel is coming very soon. It is based on 1.9L Multijet Engine(1910 cc) Wow. Right now Suzuki India is finalizing vendors for localized parts.

Right now I don't know detailed specifications. whether it will come with 8 valves or 16 valves and the power output is 99hp or 120 or 130 or 150hp. Hope I will dig this information very soon.

Well I hope this information is true.
If maruti launches SX4 with a 1.9 MJD, Maruti has a winner in its class.

this is great... I think the aspect of finding an upgrade to the dzire diesel within the maruti stable will definitely attract customers away from the manza, linea, verna and fiesta.

Atleast i would pay hard cash to get the diesel sx4. I was just not able to make up my mind on what i should buy. Dzire didnt seem adequate enough, and the other models - verna, linea, fiesta had pros and cons in equal measure.
