I highly doubt. Having twin-turbo setup will shoot the price up and that's something Mahindra would not want. But again, if it is true, it will be good for customers.

re: Mahindra Testing sub-4 meter XYLO. EDIT : Fresh PICS on Page 38

Where is Xylo mini?

Wasn't it supposed to be introduced at the auto expo?

The trial production had begun around 6 months back and Mahindra has still not announced launch plans!

But, If you look at the Standard Xylo from Rear, it also looks the same i.e. A Slender, Uniformly Tall car than curvaceous one.
Even Nano, Wagon-R looks like of the similar Ratio-Proportions & the same was also the hot matter of discussion even before the Xylo's launch, but Real-time results revealed better results.

IMHO, Since its wheel size & diameter is reduced than Standard Xylo, then automatically its body height will also reduce & vice-versa(as happened in Linea T-jet with changed Alloy size to 16-Inch).
Or else we might be having another Qualis-like tiny wheel driven MUV.

How exciting would it be to have a MINI-XYLO 4 wheel drive variant under 6 lakhs?

This is surely the most awaited vehicle.

@Raj, it is believed to have Logan's diesel mill minus one block.

Read somewhere that it would be 3-pot (xylo engine - 1 cylinder). Would be interesting if its engine from logan (its already 1.5 l why reduce 1 cylinder?).

Caught Testing on Mumbai - Pune Expressway on Sunday (8th)

The guy was racing at almost 135 - 140 & had to speed up to catch him. Is this the Mini Xylo or something else?

This is because in order to get excise duty concession the car should be below 1.4L engine size and below 4 meters in length

re: Mahindra Testing sub-4 meter XYLO. EDIT : Fresh PICS on Page 38

I hope mini xylo gets powerful engine and 4X4. It will be a nice option to the regular hatchback, even at 7-8L OTR. It can become something like Desi Yeti!
The advantages it may have over other hatches:
1. more space and comfort
2. easier ingress and egress
3. some off road ability
4. nice lifestyle vehicle as a 4X4 soft-roader below 10L. There's nothing like this in the market as of now.

It is an engine developed and owned by Renault, so Mahindra have permission to only use that engine in the Logan (Verito), nothing else. The only other option mahindra had was to modify an engine they already have, so the 3 pot motor. To develop a 1.5L 4 pot motor would have taken time and money and pushed up the cost of the project sky high so hence they took a short cut.

To get excise concessions, the length of the vehicle has to be less than 4 mtrs length and the engine should be smaller than 1.2L for petrol engines and 1.5L for diesel engines

Well I was just replying to Silverado`s post. Its 1.5l and not 1.4l for the 12% tax benefit.

IMO it would better if m-xylo has the renault 1.5l dci rather than the 3-pot m-haw(k-last cylinder removed :-))

Caught testing on Jaipur-Delhi Highway - January 05 2011

Mahindra Testing sub-4 meter XYLO. EDIT : Fresh PICS on Page 38-img_0237.jpg

was followed by couple of xylos and one ssangyong. Thought it was little too late for entry to auto expo and guess was right as this was nowhere to be seen during the Expo.

PS: Sorry for orientation of image :stupid

Thanks for that & No issues for the orientation, i have corrected it. Proportion wise it looks good, only the tyres look too punny. Minimum 16 inchers are required, 17 would be ideal.

re: Mahindra Testing sub-4 meter XYLO. EDIT : Fresh PICS on Page 38

3 cylinder or 4, as long as it is priced decently (read around 5L) and still carries the ruggedness of its bigger brother, this should be a game changer. After the disappointment of SWIFTED Ertiga, this is a good one to look out for.
