Hello Folks!

It felt great to view the NECB thread. It is indeed heartening to know that there are 118 NEs in good condition.

We have been using a 118 NE since 1996. It is a great car in terms of comfort and performance. The gear box is just amazing! Please do check out the pictures of our 118 NE on page 66 of the Fiat Classic Club - Hyderabad (FCCH) thread. Here is the link : http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/post-w...d-fcch-66.html

Regards,

Rahul Waghmare.

^^ Hi Rahul,

The 118 NE is simple a eye catcher. I am stunned by the way you and your Dad maintained the baby. NE is gorgeous, nicely maintained . Looks like you guys have done, lots of modification on her, would appreciate if you can share it among us, if any which are not discussed in FCCH thread.

----

It was a really good way to start the day, as I could see few 118 NE's on the roads of Bengaluru. These are days were in NE's are rare to find, but for my luck today just in a span of 30 minutes of my drive from home to work, I found 4 NE.

Its really good to see them back on road.

Cheers!!!

Hi GreenDay,

Thanks for your feedback on our 118NE. It really feels great when you see cars like the 118 NE on the road. Happy to hear that you could spot 4 NEs on your 30 minute drive!

As requested here are some features on our car:

- Fitted with an Add-On Electronic Capacitive Discharge Ignition (CDI) System which was designed and manufactured by my father.
- An experimental supercharger.
- Additional automatic cooling fan for the engine.
- Blower at the rear to ensure that rear passengers get the cooling from the AC effectively.
- When the front glove box cover is opened, it has a glass holder for 3 glasses. The AC's air flow is directed here to ensure the glasses can be cooled. (Very effective for cooling water kept in stainless steel tumblers.)
- Additional AC outlets taken through the dashboard for effective cooling. The slot provided for the ash tray has been used for this. (This is not seen in the pictures posted on the FCCH thread.)
- Digital tachometer on the dashboard.
- A red light fitted at the bottom rear side of the car that keeps blinking whenever the ignition is switched on. (Inspired from Formula One cars. F1 cars have these lights at the rear and are useful in poor visibility during rains.)
- Two small spot lights fitted inside the front bumper.
- The front grill has 2 aluminium strips fitted on top and bottom to enhance the appearance.
- Good Year radial tyres.
- Switches for the AC, blower, lights and fuel selector are mounted on an aluminium alloy switch support that is used in aero plane cockpits. This was procured from someone we know in the aviation industry.
- Engine cooling fan is bigger and has been brought near to the radiator by using metal spacers. This ensures that all the air is sucked through the radiator for effective engine cooling.
- The tappet cover has NISSAN embossed on it.

Well this is all I could recollect. Need to check with my father if I missed out something!

Regards,

Rahul Waghmare.

Great Initiative NECB!!

Hi Folks,

I am new to this thread. I pretty recently purchased my very own 118NE. Its a sky blue color car. Since childhood i always wanted to have one. But of course everybody couldn't afford to own one. My time had come now.

So i finally saved some money off my salary. And bought my 118NE sky blue color. Its a November 1996 model. so relatively new. i think 1997 was the last year of its manufacturing. So its run about 85000 kms. i bought it for about Rs. 35000/- i didnt really care for the money. i just wanted to buy it. and now im getting the ownership transferred to me, getting the insurance made, got the emission certificate also done. The car is in ok condition, but needs servicing. I will post photos as soon as possible.

Regards,
AJ

Welcome aboard AJ. Your tbhp handle says it all, how passionate you are. Liked the part 'I didnt really care about the money'. I kind of know this car and seen it on the net on Sulekha while casually surfing classifieds. I too was very tempted for this one, being already head to toe with parking troubles, did not even bother to check out the car. I believe its a AC model with excellent cooling. Do post detailed pictures of the car, including the interiors. We will be very glad to see them. Fiat 1100 club bangalore will be holding a meet/rally during November time frame. Chethan (co-founder NECB along with me) has promised to bring in many NE owners to attend this meet. Hope to see you too during that meet.

Please brief us on why you like the NE since childhood. Did your family own one any time? Myself and you might have similar stories to share. My story is on page 1 of this thread and assume you already have read it.

@ Scarlet_Rider: Your NE is a real stunner. It has all the features that some of us could dream of modernizing the a 118 NE. Every mod has been done beautifully. When you get some time, please write if you have any DIY's (Do it yourself) that could help NE owners enhance their rides.

Any new pictures would be very well appreciated.

@funkykar : Thanks for your feedback on my car. I will definitely try to share some more pictures and DIYs that can be done on the 118 NE. Please go through pages 66 and 67 of the Fiat Classic Club Hyderabad (FCCH) thread as some details are discussed about the modifications on our car. Also please go through my post number 109 of this thread as well for some features of our car.

Hi Folks, Thanks for the warm welcome from each one of you. I will try to post some pics as soon as possible. Yes, Funkycar your probably did see this car on sulekha classifields. Initially the owner was asking for about 40k, he gradually came down to 38k. The final deal was struck at 35k. The AC is not very strong, but it is working. The steering, the clutch and the brakes need to be worked on. The exterior needs a paint job. But the engine and the gearbox is smooth as butter. Definitely not a bad buy.

Well regarding the history of 118NE, my family did love the car. My father and my 'chikappa' dreamt of having one. Never really could garner enough money to buy one. & now i guess that there are so many options in cars, my 'chikappa' didnt really wana go for one. SO i took it up upon me to go ahead and try it out. Regardless of the costs, the satisfaction of having owned an NE will remain. Well in short that was my story. Will update all you folks soon.

Regards,
AJ

I am not quite sure of any mechanic's for 118NE near your place. Just in case if you are a frequent traveler towards Malleshwaram, Sheshadripuram or Sadashivnagar, I can guide you for a good mechanic for NE here.
