worth it certainly in my opinion considering the original purchase price of the vehicle
my suggestion is that if you feel it is a distress/ urgent sale try and make a flat final offer of 5.4- 5.5 and if the seller bites, take it immdtly.

great car, great value and enjoyable drive too!

Ford Ikon EXI - Please help

Hello,
I am planning to pick up a car and have seen a FORD IKON 2000 Model which has done 60000 Kms and is fairly Maintained, the quoting price is 1,30,000.00 rs.

I test drove the car today and felt the steering was a little too heavy could some one tell me why it is so, and what would it cost me to get it serviced, and also to keep in mind the car has been stand still for 2 months in the dealers showroom, could anyone advise me of what service should I usuall get done on the car and how much will it cost me.....

Laura elegance

Guys
I got a quote for used laura elegance 2007 model which has clocked 29000kms. Asking price 12.5L. Is this ok? The car seemed to be in pretty decent condition...

Is that a good choice? I have not TD'd it yet but given the low mileage on the car, it seems good VFM.

What do you say? Should I get hold of it?

BH.
Is it with leathers ?

I am negotiating a 2007 Aug ZXi (leathers), run only 6000km - for 5.5L.

Too much. A friend bought a 2007 C220 CDI (Diesel) run 20,000 km with a one year warrantee from autohanger mumbai in brand new condition (autohanger always touches up and gets the used car in pristine shape before selling) for 16lakhs.

Even an accord V6 of the similar vintage and run less than the one you are offered sold recently for 9.5lakhs in mumbai.

I am not sure you should go in for 2000 model at this time Bopanna. You can get a much later version for a little more than that.
Also, Fords do have a slightly heavier steering .
Maintaining a Ford is not as cheap as maintaining a maruti, as simple as that. Once a car crosses 5 years it will require maintenance and it would not be too cheap for a Ford (I have one so I know) its a fantastic car though . Visit a dealer and check the prices.

Hope this helps.

Edit: Sorry missed, its an Exi so a 1.6. Look for something a little more recent unless its immaculately maintained and you know the owner too, which doesnt seem the case as it is with a dealer.
Check service history and get the car checked by a good mechanic. I am not too aware of the pre owned prices, hopefully other guys can help u here.

bopanna, be very careful of the 1.6. its very heavy on maintanace and requires your constant attention. at 1.3L, it slightly on the higher end, i think you can get it even lower. unless the car is in a very good nick. yeah, you will feel the steering is slightly heavy, that is ok.

Hi Bopanna,
Despite being an excellent drivers car - it is painfully expensive to maintain, and if you land yourself a lemon - then God help you. Keep in mind spares are much more expensive and the 1,30,000/- tag doesnt tell you the complete story.

Also considering its a 2000 model - the dealer is quoting a higher price, in Mumbai i know of 6 - 7 yr old Ikons going for approx 90K. IMO - shop around a little more and consider all options.

1.3 L is too much for a 2000 model Ikon, inspite of it being a 1.6. My 2004 Ikon 1.3 Exi in the second hand market will fetch only 1.3 L or so.

I would say look for a more recent model. You can get a good bargain. And don't forget to get the car checked with a trusted mech of Ford A.S.S.

1.3L only for 2004 Ford???
My 2001 Alto would get me around 1.1 to 1.2L I think!!!

New Ikon costs around 5.25 L for petrol & 6.05 for Diesel OTR Pune. In that case I completely dropping idea of buying Ford Ikon diesel that I have been considering!

The low rate is due to Ford A.S.S and Maintanance Cost. If you are looking for a long term ownership then you may not need to worry about re-sale value!

I am looking to won it for 3-4 years. If I spend 6L + 25k accessories now for Ford Ikon Diesel, how much can I expect after say 3 years and 36K KM and 4 years and roughly 45K KMs? That will help me decide.

I am planning to sell my Baleno later this year. Its a 2006 Nov' Lxi model with comprehensive Maruti insurance, serviced at MASS only, run about 23k now, mostly highway. Also got the car painted completely with same color (Midnight Black) to get rid of some scratches & did not want any color difference.

How much can I expect at the resale market in Bangalore?
