That car should still be available with Mahindra First Choice @ HSR. I had negotiated the price down to Rs 1.3 L before I found out about the timing belt cover.

I'm still looking for a Palio
Ouch! but good choice to let it go (the 1.3L price point was good though). Wish you all the best on your quest. BTW, did the 1.6 come in Purple?

Cheers,

Too bad.

It is very rare to find a good conditioned GTX nowadays. Do try your luck in PUG (Palio users group) as well. You may not get it in Bangalore but I saw a few ads of S10s in Mumbai.

Our very own BHPian Ravveendrra flew all the way from Hyd to procure one from Mumbai

The PUG right now has more buyers than sellers and the cars in great demand are the 1.6 versions.

Take heart @ Dhruv, the right car for you is somewhere out there - keep hunting. Shiva of the PUG and from Hyderabad is looking for a 2nd Palio - a 1.6 this time and he too made a trip to Mumbai but came back empty-handed.

Cheers,

^^^ To be honest, I haven't been following up on the prices of the 1.3 MJD at all. I was just looking at 1.6 Petrol's.

The price seems a little high (bargain more) - but 17" alloys! Fiat alloys are somewhat unique (98 PCD) and I lot of people fit 100 PCD alloys by using adapters/shaving off the holes in the alloy wheels.

IMO - You would be better off buying a car with the stock size wheels.

I spoke with another guy who wants to sell a Palio 1.6 in Bangalore - the car's a 2007 model (<20K km's) and the owner is quoting an exorbitant price (Rs 3.5L).

What would be a good price to pay for the car ?

2.3 to 2.5L if the car is maintained well. definitely not 3.5L.

2007 would be a Stile not the older Palio. The Stile feels very different from the older Palio which it replaced. It is a good car but lacks the tautness and punch of the older GTX/S10.

3.5L is, as you say, exorbitant. As Dieselfan says, you could pay around 2.5L (if it has run under 20K km and is in excellent condition).

Cheers,

The Palio MJD was sold as low as 4.2L (IIRC) very recently. 3.7L for an oustation car is too much. 3L would be the right price if not lesser. As it is Fiats do not command great resale value. Haggle.
