According to ACI September 2018 issue, Maruti is "Seriously Evaluating" the Jimmy as a logical replacement of Gypsy for Indian market. They also state that Maruti is likely to implement this with a longer wheel base version in India, possibly with the 1.5 Diesel

With the increased demand in Jimny, Suzuki to add another production line from Jan 2019.

Production will be rammed up cater to 7000 units a month.

In July Jimny fully improved for the first time in about 20 years and received an order exceeding the annual sales goal in a month of release

New reports from Japanese press indicates Suzuki Jimny heading to India, initially to be imported from Japan , Production capacity
increased with this intention.

Suzuki reportedly wants to export Suzuki Jimny to two countries in Asia, namely India and Pakistan,

With production up to 75% of its original capacity, it is expected that the supply of units from the Suzuki Jimny will be faster to the consumers in Japan, and can also be set aside for units to be exported to the two countries.

Then why did the two countries get priority to get a Suzuki Jimny import unit from Japan?

The answer is easy, because in the two markets the Suzuki brand is quite successful.

So, it is clear that Suzuki's brand image in both countries is quite strong and makes both of them have the honor of receiving the Suzuki Jimny import unit from Japan.

Looks like Suzuki is getting ready to milk us. This thing would be flying off the shelves if priced in 7-8 lakh band ex showroom. Seems unlikely if they are going to take the CBU route.

I'm not believing that the company who said that a small 3-door SUV won't drive as much demand as they'd like - now believes they can sell it at CBU prices!

Will believe these press agencies only once a Jimny is spotted testing in India.

If they are taking the CBU route then i believe the expected price could be in the range of 18 - 21L (Ex-Showroom)

There is 70 units coming to South Africa, all have been booked in advance by customers.
The waiting list for us is now 7 months long already.

You needed to pay a securing deposit to be placed on the waiting list.

We will only get our next batch 7 months from November and that will be at a new price due to the falling rand and exchange rates. The Jimny could end up costing us for the GLX model north of R320 000 to even R350 000 up from the R300 000 it is now going to be sold for.

That is a little more than I'd like fo pay for this little 4x4 monster.

Suzuki - it combines charm and capability.







Suzuki Jimny - 5 MT,

During the test drive, we were able to sample the Jimny on an off-road forest course, including deep ruts, steep hills and a muddy watersplash – and the Jimny simply never put a foot wrong.

The ability to switch from two-wheel drive to four-wheel drive, and then a four-wheel-drive low mode, gives it real ability, while the rigid axle suspension soaks up everything you can throw at it. For those who need to know such things, the approach angle is 37deg, the ramp breakover angle is 28deg, and it has a departure angle of 49deg.

A serious off-roader, then. And that’s reflected in the interior, which is described by Suzuki as "functional". The mostly black dashboard and switches are predominantly plastic, with many switches shared with other Suzuki models, and the seats are comfortable rather than cosseting. Still, what it lacks in premium, it makes up for in practicality – which is exactly as it should be for a proper off-roader.

Verdict:

In the end, you just can’t separate the sheer joy of the way this rascal looks, and the adorable character it plays as it skips along, from the way it drives, and that irrepressible cute-meets-tough joy is what will make it ultimately a little cracker to live with. It’s not the most complete 4x4 you can buy, but it’s a plucky underdog. Not to mention, something of a new Top Gear hero.
