Suzuki Jimny launching in Australia, goes aggressive in pricing.

The 2019 Suzuki Jimny with its retro styling and hardcore four-wheel drive credentials is launching now, priced from a reasonable $23,990 before on-road costs with a manual, and another $2000 for the automatic.

At least 320 cars from the 1100-unit allocation for 2019 (Queensland excluded, given it has a separate Suzuki distributor) are spoken for, and the waiting list is expected to top 12 months before supply headaches out of the Japanese factory begin to ease.

Unashamedly honest and affordable - that’s the key to the Jimny’s success

Every year there’s always a car tuners can’t get enough of. In the past it was the Lexus LC, Toyota C-HR, and Mazda MX-5, but hadn’t seen anything quite like how the Jimny took over TAS.It was as if a case of Jimny-fever had spread throughout TAS and there was no stopping it.

Jimny-fever has reached its peak when even Suzuki themselves presented a pair of off-road concepts at TAS.

Continuing on the lifted theme was the NATS Jimny Adventure. Made by the Nihon Automobile College, it was the students’ take on how they’d envisioned the ultimate all terrain Jimny.

All the various takes on the Jimny was they all either maintained the same ground clearance as the original car or were raised.

Liberty Walk stand, with their Jimny kit, it got a lot of attention. The LB kit turns the Jimny into a G-Mini

They had received over 40 orders for their Jimny kit in the three days TAS was held

Half the orders came from overseas customers

Many G-Mini looks from many designers, the OEP222 also did the mini G-Class look for the kei version of the Jimny.

Perhaps it was because of this it took home the prize for the Kei Car Custom category.

Another award-winning custom Jimny was the Black Bison kit by Walt International.

This got the top prize for the SUV division, with DAMD’s Little G Sierra being the runner up, which as guessed from the name is another G-Class lookalike.

DAMD also has a Defender lookalike kit hilariously called the Little D, as well as some amazing interior options for their Little G and Little Ds.

The Jimny took home a lot of prizes this year but as cool as the Black Bison was, it was the Jimny next to it that really caught the attention.

And many more..pink and white Jimny .. and the craziest Jimny was the ‘Monster Jimny'.

The 1:1 car, erm, truck even came with a more affordable 1:10 RC version, too Presumably that’s the one they’ll sell

I have finally heard back from my Suzuki Dealer in Ulm, Germany. After not delivering on the December or January promise, I was now told, that the logistic issues had been solved and they have the final delivery date: 8th week of 2019. Funnily enough, it celebrate my birthday that week. I will have had to wait 5 months instead of 2. Hearing, that customers in Japan wait many more months or even as long as years diminish my anger though.



How do I get a hold of the Jimny toys? I hear they are of amazing quality.

Maruti Suzuki is looking to boost exports to other countries including Europe and Japan - Is it a hint on exploring the manufacturing Jimny in India

We are studying other products (other then Baleno which the company ships to Japan) which could be exported to Japan as well as other markets. There is a need to develop left hand markets as well along with right hand ones

The company, which has been exporting to markets like Chile, Indonesia, South Africa, Uruguay and Nepal, is also looking at models which could be shipped to developed markets like Europe and Japan.

Suzuki Jimny is named ‘Dark Horse of the Year’

The Southern Group of Motoring Writers (SGMW) has named the new Suzuki Jimny as its Dark Horse of the Year, beating the likes of the Peugeot 508 and Volkswagen’s Up! GTI hot hatch.

Given to the car that took the SGMW judges by surprise more so than any other, the 29-writer panel decided that the Jimny was the deserving victor, even in the face of such stiff competition.

Described as “so, so cool” by one member of SGMW, the fourth-generation Jimny has been a hit among the press and public alike for its simple and boxy styling and is the first all-new iteration of the compact off-roader since 1998.
