re: Skoda Laura DSG CR 140 - Ownership Experience.

Nice update there Anshuman.

Tell me, what was the build of the rear passengers and how long were 3 people in the rear seat? How comfortable or uncomfortable was the middle passenger?

Any feedback from them?

Anshuman, did the dealer at the time of purchase (or later) give you any feedback on what fuel variant is best suited for the Laura? Regular diesel or high octane?

There is no high octane diesel. The premium diesel is best avoided for Common Rail Diesels.

re: Skoda Laura DSG CR 140 - Ownership Experience.

Anshuman, whats your take on Laura's longevity? I was reading the initial ownership thread of @kgkaran.
Thats when it struck me, to check with you.

How does the car hold with long life in terms of maintenance and related bills.

It's too early to say, What can i say? Laura definitely has higher priced parts and expensive maintenance. I picked it because no other car in the segment is as good to drive. I can live with expensive maintenance but not with a bad car. This car meets my exact requirements.

I am not worried atleast for 4years/1,00,000kms, that's when the warranty expires.

re: Skoda Laura DSG CR 140 - Ownership Experience.

Coming to the longevity topic, I had a question. Did you do any research about this "Mechatronic" gizmo which seems to be prone to failures across countries.

re: Skoda Laura DSG CR 140 - Ownership Experience.

^^ Hi devdath, I have been following Briskoda and other international forums for years. Not every DSG has issues, my cousins and friends have PD DSG Lauras since long.

- 110hp version has bent down tailpipe, 140hp version has straight pipes.
Apart from the above mentioned difference, one can also notice that the "I" in the nomenclature TDI (on the boot) is red in colour for the 140hp engine, while in the 110hp TDI is single coloured.

So have you driven/know of any Laura that has crossed 100,000kms and 5 yrs without any major complaints? If yes, it could be a very good pointer to the general feeling of the European cars not being able to withstand Indian climate, fuel and upkeep.

The current Laura line up comes with entirely different engines than previous ones, so this is irrelevant here. I have seen lots of DSGs holding up well for really long. The Current Engines and DSG are shared all across Audi, VW, Skoda cars worldwide.

As i have said above i liked the car and bought it. This was an informed decision, not that some salesperson fooled me into buying it. If i can afford the car, i can also afford to repair/replace the parts after 4 year warranty gets over. So NO hue and cry over what has not happened yet.

My car done 9k kms with no issues, if i ever come across an issue, i will highlight it here just like i did with my Punto ownership thread. Till then let's keep the negative feelings off this thread.
