My Laura has clocked 850 kms till date, the first tank full delivered 14.5~15 Kmpl in Bangalore city with AC on which i think is pretty decent for a brand new car with an auto box.

These are not decent but Great figures. Tell me which other AT car returns such good FE. Even small cars like i10 AT are stuck at much lower figures. http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...automatic.html

What are these 3D mats? Are they VW specific or do you get them for the Laura too. Are they those trasnperant mats? The Beige mats really break one's back when it comes to cleaning those.
@Anshuman- Sorry for posting an image. Please let me know if you want this to be removed.

@SWanand - The 3D mats are something like a moulded foam in the shape of different cars. The good thing is that it comes in Beige as well as Black and helps largely to maintain dust/sand/dirt free interiors as it collects the dust like a bowl and we can simply throw the dust instead of requiring to vacuum it. Also any liquid spill also stays in the mat and cleaning is far easier. Hope this helps.

Skoda Shield

Hi Anshuman,

Do you mind explaining a little bit about the Skoda Shield. I understand it's a 2+2 year extended warranty (or a lac km)+1st year Insurance+4 year on road assistance (please correct if I am wrong).

The question is with respect to price. Do they price these three elements seperately. So can one go for 4 year extended warranty and 4 year on road assistance but not take 1st year Insurance (say to use NCB)?

Also, what's the approx they charge for Skoda Shield, for Laura Ambiente CR DSG?

Many thanks in advance.

@Anshu.

The dotted lines in the RHS mirror does help. Here is a snap shot. The coverage is pretty good as well as after the dotted lines you can see the image getting distorted to cover that extra space.

You should get one like these.

@swanand inamdar
Let me post the latest Fe figures of my Laura MT too. I've done just 300Km. I took the car out on the NHW today for a one hour drive. I travelled 79 km at speeds varying from 80 to 120 kmph. I put it as 80% at 100-120 kmph, and 20% at 40-60kmph. The 100-120 speed sections were driven in the 5th gear, and the rest in 3rd and 4th gears. I was intermittenly coasting after short bursts of acceleration at high speeds.
I was pleased to see a FE of 23 kmph for the trip. And this is just the running in of a new engine!

And from what i read in various TDI forums the FE is supposed to go up after the 10k run in is complete. Till then just treat her with enough respect and drive her like you always do. Never drive for economy in this period is a simple advice given to me. Meaning no drives where you let the idling speed move the car. If the MID says shift down, go ahead and shift down. Its good for the engine. And once a while rev it to the reds to help with the run in.

Great car, Great build and a fantastic engine that just sounds beautiful when you drive her with windows down.

Given an option would pick all black interiors over Beige. The beige carpets in Laura get soiled so easily. Sadly the mentality in our country is Beige=Luxury. Some manufacturers which start with Black interiors end up offering Beige at a later stage.
Anshuman, try using the 3d kagu mats for the Laura. They are great & come in beige that are washable & add to the aesthetics.

@anshuman & other current-gen Laura owners: how would you compare the driving experience between the TDI DSG and the TSI?

Flat out Tsi wins due to revv advantage and torque which is spread out on a wider base but Tdi(140hp) has more torque than Tsi meaning it is punchy in low and midrange.

For driving flatout and lower nvh Tsi is better but Tdi has more grunt, comes with DSG, has far better FE.. Tdi Dsg is around a second slower than Tsi but many Kpl better.

Only the Superb V6 has it if I'm right.

If you own a Skoda or VW, with a DSG transmission, check if you have launch control. Press the brake pedal and accelarate simultaneoisly. If you are able to revv past 2.5-3.5k RPM, you have launch control!! To use it, change to Tiptronic mode. If you hav paddle shifters, switch to S mode. Now, keep pressing the brakes and start revving the engine and leave the brake pedal just at the correct revs. Right amt of revs depends on whether you hav a petrol or diesel. Check on youtube there are many links......
