Abhishek,

Are you referring to the last pic in your album as the oil sump. If you were then thats the oil cap only not the sump.

Looks like engine transport in our country needs some rethinking.
Using protocols of engine importers might help since damage during transit of engines would hinder business to tuners if car owners turn to local expertise.
Im being neutral and speaking in general here.

Looks like transporting the whole car is a better option than transporting the engine alone. Local tuners! They are more, learn on the job assemblers or tinkerers rather than hardcore "tuners".

Phoenix gets its heart

A day of good progress. The engine and the FFE have been fitted and they are up and running. Some kinks still to be ironed out, but that is expected in such a situation.
The only thing missing in the engine bay is the intake+filter setup which was delayed due to some reasons.

Anyway, idled the engine for about an hour, all the while appreciating the muted rumble being emitted from the exhaust! Couldn't resist hitting the gas pedal a fraction before turning off the engine (kept it under 2000 rpm)... the sound was sweet
The plan is to finish the painting in the next couple of days, along with some other interior work. Once the Pedders arrive, the brakes and suspension can be done and the new tyres fitted. Ideally, would have wanted to finish off all the mechanical work before the painting, but I've got to improvise....

Phoenix is slowly but surely rising from the ashes.

You are putting an SL grade engine oil in that car. Wouldn't SM be recommended? or is it that you will flush this soon for the SM.

1100, He's using this oil for run-in.
He'll shift to synthetic after 5000/10000 kms.

Yup, just for the initial run-in period. Will switch to synthetic after that. In any case SL still works... not obsolete yet

@nitrous: i have the filter... waiting for the intake pipe to arrive.

.
Its only recently that the Castrol GTX became SL grade! It used to be GTX Extra earlier SF grade! However with the advent of Magnatec its in a different plane altogether! I dont need synthetics!

Yeah there is a whole thread about Synthetic oil vs Mineral!

Edit: I beleive in Synthetics but also think the cost get prohibitive over time. However Magnatec has been observed as making cold engine rev smoother.

Wohoooo... So I get to see the Phoenix flying this Saturday? I swear, that'll make getting through the rest of the week sooooo much easier. Otherwise the prospects look pretty bleak - neck deep in work!! Really need something to look forward to

The engine & headers look damn cool, can't wait to see the car all shiny and black - and listen to the exhaust of course!!

Is it because you think Castrol GTX Magnatec is synthetic oil?

@wim: Paintjob should be done by Saturday (if things go to plan). Most likely will be doing some ICE'ing on that day. If possible I'll take the car home on Saturday and take it back to the workshop to get the suspension and brakes done when the Pedders arrive.
The update on the shockers is that they will be sent across to me early next week. So, waiting and watching
