@blackfire_9
I've been using Power Windows in my Alto for almost an year. No problems whatsoever. I did not like the MGA P/W kit because of the weak motor and absence of auto-roll up feature. Autocop had this ugly after-market feel to it. So went ahead with RD.

You can checkout the last 2 pics in my post here. The looks are absolutely stock, the installation thoroughly professional and it cost me 4.5k with 1 year warranty. More info on their website. rdoverseas.co.in

Hey buddy,

Thanks a lot for your helpful response, & I am also not in favour of the MGA PWs due to the substantially higher costs involved. Although, I am curious to know about any way to judge the quality/strength of a motor? You mentioned that the MGA motor is not of optimum strength, so is there a way to judge this or was it something you learnt through some people who are into this business?

I tried reaching the company, but to no avail. Can you help me with the contact of some guy in Delhi for RD. Maybe if you can just call up the dealer from where you got these fitted in your car & ask him for somebody in Delhi, it would be really great.

I checked out your thread, & it seems I have seen your car almost daily in Chandigarh. Maybe we had the same workplace You have a PM.

Take care, ride safe. Hopefully, the PWs would be installed some time this week. I am just trying to work out the prices with different guys for other brands. Meanwhile if I can get a RD contact, I would get in touch with them as well.

Drive safe man. Chao.

I was at the Maruti Service Station last year for the routine service and I noticed an Alto customer getting the Power Windows repaired. The MGA guy himself admitted that their P/W kits are facing problems of weak motor. He even advised against P/W for Alto stating ki "moisture pakad leti hai". So I dropped the MGA kit from the list and started searching for Autocop and Xenos. Xenos, though they were good were not available in matching grey interior color. And the Autocop kit had their stupid logo on the button panel, which they refused to remove.
So finally searched some more and found RD. They installed the P/W kit at my place. Installation was professional. I mean they took almost 2 hours just to route the wires through proper channels which I later appreciated. (Most Autocop installers will cut the rubber wiring sleeve to do a quick jugad install)

Let me send you a PM with the contact no. of the guy in Chd.
Keep us posted on how it goes.

Cheers!

@lord: Thanks for all the help, really appreciate it. Would keep you posted about the updates.

@all: Does anyone have any idea about any sort of a paint which is thicker in viscosity and/or density in comparison to the rubber paints available in the market (hardware stores)? Or if there is anything that can be mixed with the normal rubber paints to make it thicker? I need to apply this on metal surface.
I am planning to do some rust proofing for my car as a DIY, & the coming weekend, I aim to do the front two doors.

Drive safe, take care all.

I inquired on the prices of Xenos & Autocop power windows (front 2 door for Alto) & it seems that they have been priced higher than most other brands in the market & Autocop is the costliest out of the lot.

I was quoted a rate of INR 4600 for Xenos & INR 5200 for Autocop, & both the models did not have a relay/upmodule inclusive of the package & did not have any one-touch function. For some other brands like MGT, SAI & RD, similar models are available for close to 4K. Also, Xenos switches & console are black in colour, which does not match with the door plastic trims which are of grey colour in my car. I have ruled out Autocop for its higher price.

@sukhjot: I spoke to the RD guy here in Delhi & asked him about the best price that he can offer to me. I doubt I would get any special price (judging by his response), but let me check with him this afternoon. Will keep you posted.

Also, guys, can anybody help me with the best VFM rear speakers (6*9) as well as front 4 inch speakers. I intend to spend as low as possible but at the same time a product that's durable & is of good quality. Any suggestions? Also, do component systems require an amplifier or can they produce good sound even without one?

Drive safe. Take care all.

Try focal or MB Quart 4" comps and for rear try Auditor 6x9, approximate price 2K for auditor. They are entry level focal and VFM. I don't think you need an amp to drive 4" comps. you can drive them through your H.U. but if you need good sound quality you'll need an amp, at least an entry level 2 channel one.

cheers!

Hey buddy, thanks for your response. I had read your thread on the ICE install in your car, & since then I have been calling up people to inquire about Focal speakers but to no avail. Even checked out some local accessory shops in my area but nobody seems to have even heard of Focal.

Can you ask the guy who did the install in your car about a location in Delhi where I can audition these speakers & then get them installed if they appeal to me? Your guy might know of other people in the country who deal in this brand or maybe he can inquire on request.

Drive safe, take care.

As far as I have read in TBHP, there are 2 major ICE installers in Delhi! Both are very popular and i guess they know what they are doing and will give you good advice on speakers. 1) Gyro 2) Driven
Check this link and you will find the contact persons name for both. Basically this link itself is of Delhi based Car Audio / Accessories people!
Delhi NCR - Team-BHP

P.S - I have used Auditor which are entry level Focal and are cheaper. Focals are a little expensive!

Good luck!

Gyro is next to my place, here in Moti Bagh. I will get in touch with them, although the thread dedicated to them here on Tbhp has the last post saying that they have stopped dealing for the time being.

As for Driven, will check it out, probably speak to the concerned guy on phone first to get an idea & then I can go down for an audition.

Thanks for your prompt response man. Will keep you posted on whether or not I found Auditors here.

Drive safe.

Hey guys,

I have been on the lookout for power windows for some time now & I think I would be going ahead with either Xenos or RD. But I have one query, which is that for an automatic power window kit (the one in which you can roll up or roll down the windows with one touch of the button), can we have the relay as a separate unit or do they almost always come as a built-in thing with such modules (automatic).

The reason I ask this is because tomorrow if I need to replace the motor due to any reason, then such motors/modules (automatic) cost quite a bit more than the normal modules. So I was wondering if I can get an automatic module with the provision of a separate relay unit. Please share any ideas, if you may have.

Also, for the speakers, I think I would wait a little while as I am currently short on budget. But for the time being, I want to procure a set of 4" front round speakers within Rs.1500. Something that is sturdy & can last. Also my audio taste is such that I don't like a lot of treble or mid but bass. Please give some suggestions for the same. Also, similar requirements for rear co-axials (6*9), the price of which should be within Rs.3000.

Please provide some suggestions that I can look out for. I heard a few models from Pioneer & JBL (GTO series) but honestly, found the Pioneer better. But the thing is that these shop guys fiddle with the equalizer settings & stuff, probably know the inherent nature of a brand or particular model (like maybe some model gives out more bass or some gives out more treble etc) & adjust the audio system accordingly & also based on what they want to sell. So, I am not sure if I can rely purely on what I heard this weekend at a couple of shops.

Thanks, drive safe.

An update:

The PWs were to be installed this past Friday but the guy got down with dengue, & hence it would take another 7-10 days at least before the windows can be fixed.

On the speakers part, I auditioned a couple of brands this weekend, & got a chance to hear Rockford Fosgate. Man, I fell in love with it immediately. I am no audiophile but the sound clarity & depth was something even I couldn't miss out when compared to Sony, Pioneer, Alpine. In Alpine, I had heard Type E, & found them good but with a tilt towards treble for the same equalizer settings on the same track. JBLs have gained new respect in my books for being a VFM. It maybe a tad expensive compared to Sony & Pioneer but is surely worth it & is in the league of Rockford to an extent (my opinion).

I tried looking around for Ground Zero, Alpine Type R, Infinity, MTX, Bull Audio, Hertz & MTX, but couldn't succeed in that.

An honest confession is that I had the option of being sane & getting something in my budget, although after listening to Rockford, the equation seems to have changed & I am all the more eager to audition the brands listed above to decide on one & "Take the Plunge"

Drive safe, take care.

The good thing about buying ICE is that you can buy it in stages. Add an amp, more speakers, sub, etc..
