2015 scooter means it is already out of warranty. In this case why are you servicing it every 4 months/ 1000km?
With modern vehicles and engine oils, oils can easily last for 5000-10000km and 2-3 years.
I generally service my dad's Jupiter once a year just to be safe. I would suggest service intervals of 1 year or 5000km whichever comes first.

I also have a 2015 Jupiter, and I totally agree with timuseravan sir.

In addition to once a year service + oil change, I use the IOC's Addon additive after every 2 tank fulls which keeps the carb clean and its smooth to ride too. Other than that it does not require any special pampering, the product is very robust.

My Jupiter is still under extended warranty. That's the only reason I prefer authorized service. But now that I have discovered that they are fleecing customers in the name of preventive maintenance, it's better to stay away from them.

Is there any official channel of TVS to raise a complaint against dealers? If anyone knows, please share details.

Raise a complaint via the TVS Motors website, you will definitely get a call from the company representative for Pune region.

Alternatively, every TVS ASC has an escalation matrix displayed, which should have the company rep's mobile number. About a year back (more or less), it was a person called Rohan Karkhanis (mob no. 77220 72710), before him it was Sagar Shroff (mob no. 88888 58879). Don't know if these contacts are still valid or not because I haven't visited the ASC in a very long time, so please use them as a last resort only.

Cheers,
Vikram

The extended warranty is a scam to get you to service more often. The probability of failure is extremely low. And this is known by the company and dealers. So they offer the "extended warrant" at very low prices but with riders to get you to keep forking out money for unnecessary servicing for years.
Sadly I have found this practice with almost all manufacturers (except Mahindra!).
How long is this warranty going to run? You should calculate the total costs of all the unnecessary services and see if it still makes sense.

Re: TVS Jupiter or something else?

Recently bought TVS NTorq and pretty happy with the purchase.

1. The quality of the switches is pretty good.
2. I liked the way engine sounds which has nice low end bass to it.
3. Even though this is a heavy scooter (116), you do not feel its weight much.
4. The Bluetooth connectivity option even though futuristic is not of much use.
5. The performance is good and you make quick progress on this. The dimensions are copmact and you can zoom in and out in traffic.

Re: TVS Jupiter or something else?

Checked out the Grande in Bangalore. LED lights and a drool-worthy seat, make it a competent buy! We are planning for a scooter this coming Jan, with NTORQ and Burgman Street being the other two contenders. How's Grazia? Any opinions on the Jupiter ownership? We are looking at the disc model and stocks are readily available for all two-wheelers right now, except NTORQ. Grande colour hasn't grown on us just yet, hopefully, we should see another colour! What do you think?

What did you do eventually? I'm curious to know what and why you've selected what you did.

I'm in a similar situation. Jupiter, ntorq, access and burgman on the cards for a 55yr old bank employee travelling 40km a day in Hyderabad.

Comfort of a jupiter? Or performance of an ntorq/access? What to lean on to?
(While comfortable ride is literal choice, I do think that having power in hand would also lead to a little less stress while riding).

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Get an aether absolutely case closed. I recently rode one and the comfort from that plush suspension, acceleration, zero fatigue, and the brilliant nav on the dash were all top notch. The fact that it’s peanuts to charge and use was the icing on the cake. And the storage capacity...my god.

I have a Jupiter, and if I was in the market now, I will not buy anything other than an aether. Honestly ice commuters are dead or are dying.

While you haven't asked me the question but since my cousin owns a Jupiter, let me give you my perspective after using it for days on end.
1. Power is more than enough for lone rider
2. Luggage loading space and capacity is great
3. The most USP that I find in Jupiter, compared to other scooters in the list is the best design of external fuel filler. Ntorq's is laid out flat and tends to collect water from rain or pressure wash, Access has the weird removable cap which sticks out like a sore thumb and Burgman has no external fuel filler.

The Jupiter's external fuel filler is a no-nonsense one. It's slanted and also pop's out to fill fuel. No need to unscrew and hold it. The ZX stop-start, silent start, one key-hole for everything just sweetens up the experience.

Trust me, it won't matter at the beginning but then on daily basis it does matter a lot and helps one to keep calm in many situations.

All the best.

Re: TVS Jupiter or something else?

Wow, that was way back in Nov 2018. We picked the NTORQ, and its serving us well, no issues at all. Like you said - the Torque is fantastic and its a stress free ride. The pickup is addictive, and is best in class. The digital display, styling etc gives it an edge. Mileage is under 40KMPL, though. But we knew that while we were buying

TVS Jupiter Classic 2017(BS4) – Unique Issue
Hi Friends,
This is regarding my TVS Jupiter Classic (BS4). I am facing a peculiar issue and would like to know if anyone had faced similar issues and/ or suggest some kind of way forward.
The km clocked is about 2500km+ sparingly used for short distances.
In Q3 2020, faced a unique issue, i.e. while driving, the engine switches off and there is no jerk. Its an abrupt engine shutoff. When this happens, the ECO mode green light is ON (Confirming Electrical circuit is fine). After pulling aside, when I try to restart (both kick start or electric), the scooter doesn’t start. Had to call TVS dealer and they tried to start both kick start & electric start, but scooter did not start.
The TVS workshop (RAMKAY TVS Adyar Chennai), trouble shooted as some issue related to engine valve head adjustment(I was not convinced with their explanation).
After exactly 1 month, face the same problem. But after some cooling period, the scooter started & was taken to workshop. This time the carburetor was cleaned and test driven for about 50kms and returned.
After 2 months, I faced the same issue. But this time after cooling period of about 1 hour the scooter started.
The dealer advised for carrying out a proper full service. All this time I have been doing the oil change every 6 months. As an interim measure, they have adjusted the fuel intake (I was told).
Then, I drove from Chennai to Pondicherry to drop the scooter. When driving, I faced no issue. The distance was about 147km with three short stops Enroute to stretch my legs.
In Pondicherry the scooter is again used by my daughter for local use with limited running. But the problem occurred again when driven less than 2 km. After a cooling period of about 5 minutes, again the scooter started. This is happening randomly and no particular pattern could be figured.
I am terribly confused and really look forward to some trouble shooting from experts in this Forum. As this is being used by ladies at home, I don’t want them to get stranded in the middle of nowhere. All these times, this problem happened only to me. From Q4 2017 till Q3 2020, we did not face this issue.
Thanking you in advance and look forward to experts advice.

Are the pistons freely moving? or it looks like there is some resistance while kicking the engine. Looks like a vapor lock to me. Next time it stalls, you can pull out the plugs and check for spark.
