Any guidance would be appreciated, thank you

Looks like a starter issue. Replace the starter or take it to the service center and get the starter checked.

Re: The KTM 390 Adventure Ownership Thread!

Service center person came and managed to start the bike by gently holding the accelerator and start switch for nearly 15 seconds. He told me that it was just due to not using the bike for nearly a month.

Re: The KTM 390 Adventure Ownership Thread!

Hi All,

I have a KTM 390 ADV, 2022 manufactured model.

At times by bike stalls in traffic, it takes some time to start. I have to switch off my bike using my keys and then it starts up again.

Wondering if this happens with any one else?

Thanks

I too have a 2022 390 Adventure and faced the stalling issue twice yesterday. The motorcycle was running all fine and I pull the clutch and the engine switched off. I have disabled the QuickShifter explicitly.

Does this stall occur when you release the clutch, engaged in gear or when you're coasting and pull in the clutch? If you're stalling when releasing the clutch, perhaps you can adjust your clutch play bite point so that you get used to the right bite point without stalling the bike, requires a little getting-used-to

But if otherwise, then I've answered the reason below this gentleman's query.

The clutch pull and stall in most cases turns out to be a faulty clutch switch. A faulty clutch switch causes most of the clutch pull induced stall on the ADV 390/250 especially when coasting to a stand-still. Verified by the SVC themselves and some of the ADVs are in for a replacement of the clutch switch free of cost.

The issue is as dangerous as -- if not worse than an unintended stall. Recommend you to solicit the advice of the KTM senior mechanic in this case at your nearest SVC.

Perhaps, this could be of a help. Good luck.

Cheers!

Re: The KTM 390 Adventure Ownership Thread!

Hi all

I am thinking of getting a performance air filter for my ADV 250 which already has a fuel x lite. I want to know about the service period for the same and long term experience.

Now as the OEM filters cost approx INR. 250 does it make more sense to just replace them like at 3000 km instead of the service schedule of 7500 km?

And since the stock filter is so cheap, i just replace it far more often if i feel the need, like say every 2-3k and i am on my way. No messing around cleaning or oiling etc.

So pick and choose after careful consideration.

If using an after market filter, a unifilter sock is mandatory.
What benefits does the unifilter sock provide?

My 390 has the standard air filter and I was told that if the airfilter was changed to a BMC aftermarket one, the effect of the fuel map would be much more pronounced.
Did you change to BMC one then?

So how is long term experience of using fuelx+bmc filter?

This is what I am doing now, tried the Duke 390 filter last time accidentally and it actually was good. Done about 2.5k kms so far.

So just to reiterate your opinion is that the slight improvement in acceleration is not worth the headache of maintaining a performance air filter?

Yes it is very minute Vs regular cleaning that they need to keep that performance up. Not worth it in my opinion, atleast on the Adv 390.

On a side note, excellent Sambalpur-Kharagpur road now means D2 Kolkata is easily doable from Pune

Wow! cool pics.

Which route did you take for Chilika? Was it Pune -> Nagpur -> Sambalpur -> Kharagpur -> Chilika or via Hyderabad and Vijayawada? Is the Keonjhar route all done 4-lane?

I went to Kolkata first from Sambalpur via Keonjhar-Kharagpur.

With the exception of Ghat section just after Sambalpur & another one before Baharagora, this entire route is ~ 99% 4 laned.

Re: The KTM 390 Adventure Ownership Thread!

The tires on my KTM 390 adv are due for replacement. I've been riding on the stock and the odo is close to 26k kms.

Do you have any recommendations?

I don't venture out for off roading as much. Most of my travelling is limited to highways.

The Apollo Tramplr has got good reviews, a few people on the Mumbai group have shifted to it recently. Though it doesn't come in stock sizes. 90/90-19 for front instead of 100/90-19.

Similarly, for the rear, it comes in 140/70-17 instead of 130/80-17.

I see that you're using MRF Mogrip Meteor in the rear and MRF Zapper Kurve in the front. Do they come in stock sizes?

Could you share your feedback on those tyres and shed some light on their longevity?
