The fastest you would want to go on Indian roads would be 140-150, I am pretty sure it isn't an impossible speed for a 250 (twin or otherwise).

Anything above that is much too risky.

it isnt impossible, but the engine would be screaming at its peak RPM's.
140-150 say on a Busa, would be much safer and easier than a 250.
i hope you get the point.

Easier – Yes
Safer – No

I don't think speeds in excess of 100 kmph are suitable for Indian roads. Our roads are highly disorganized without lane driving, it just isn't safe to hit such high speeds.

Does the Ninja 250 find it difficult to hit 140-150? I expected more from it!

Re: Honda's 250cc Bike : CBR250R!

I would possibly never hit 150-160 ever in my life on a bike on Indian roads.

But knowing it in the back of my mind that what I am riding right now is capable of that, will surely give me a high.

Re: Honda's 250cc Bike : CBR250R!

The braking and handling of those Super Bikes are out of this world and you won't even realize and you would be doing a double ton. (on open roads with caution)

The acceleration as most know is freakish. Even if you open the throttle judiciously and with caution, you can safely cruise at 140-150 on open roads (GQ / E-W corridor types).

Most premium Indian Motorcycle riders cruise at over a ton.

They are offering 60% as loan. For the Rs 150k version it will be Rs 90k. Repayable in 12/24/36 months. EMI will be Rs 8200/4500/3200 respectively. Interest @ 9.35%/10.10%/10.55%. I have not actually calculated it (got a call from them 5 minutes ago) but on the face of it seems to be a flat rate to me. Have to compare with other bank rates to check whether this is "special" or not!

I think What Akshay means is that at 150 a Busa is safer as it can stop in much shorter distance than a 250 cc bike doing same speed, thanks to bigger tires & brakes on the Busa or any other superbike.

But yes 150 is an unsafe speed for most of the Indian roads.

No! The Ninja250 reaches 140 in a jiffy and feels absolutely planted and secure. Above that is a much slower progress.

Exactly. Thanks for the clarification. I am sure the CBR should be good till 130 at least, which is more than the required highway overtaking speeds in India.

A smaller engine can be driven in the city, at city speeds, much more easily than a litre or 600cc bike can.

I know I might get brickbats for this, but does it sound good? The youtube videos don't real score well on SQ. Will performance exhausts help?

Exactly what i meant.
and yeah speeds above 120-130 for extended periods of time can be dangerous.
but i have you a litre class\600 I4 under your butt, short bursts are fun.
I can cruise all day long on my Zma at 100-110km\hr.
CBR should be able to do 130 At least.

The interest rates are negotiable. Please make sure you do not agree with the first offer they present. I just got a call from HDFC offering a loan at 10%, negotiated it down to 8.5%. Not bad huh. The ABS version cost 1.80lakhs on-road-Pune. Although, they would finance only 60% of the bike's cost & only for 3yrs max.

As for the speed part of it, doing even 120kmph is a whole lot of fun, but again, you can do only short-bursts. Like someone said, it gives you a high just knowing there is more power on tap.
I have hit 140kmph on my Honda & trust me, it requires more concentration than you can imagine, not to mention the constant body adjustments you have to make to keep the bike going where you want it to.
Realistically, it takes a very mature & experienced rider to SAFELY ride at speeds in excess of 100kmph. I do not consider myself as an experienced rider, & I was leaving bricks all over the place when I saw the speedo hit 140kmph.

^^
I have no intention of buying it, of course! I got the details only for Spitfire.

As for 140 KMPH, I don't think our roads are fit for those speeds for any vehicle, let alone a Motorbike!
