Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Test Drive & Review

Driving a rental W10 AT FWD and this popped up while accelerating hard. Everything seems absolutely normal (same car had a blown coolant pipe last year and faulty central locking in 2022) and rental guy said it's okay. Engine! light is on. Should I be worried? I will keep it till monday.

Has anyone got ATF replaced in Hyderabad recently? Need some contact at any service center at hyderabad who does this. VVC Kushaiguda is pushing it out, saying lack of technician for replacing ATF.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Test Drive & Review

How do I reset the service reminder in my 2017 XUV500 without going to the service center. It is a W6. Service was done in a FNG, and car is running as good as ever. Have seen some youtube videos where the trip button needs to be pressed and ignition has to be turned on. But that method does not seem to be working.

Finally in july second week, I had got the ATF replaced at VVC Kushaiguda, Hyderabad, after lot of followup, but they did the work carefully by coordinating with co-tek at their main branch over phone and remote access.

Also had to get the top cover-screw replaced as the oem screw was stuck and was not coming off without damaging the head. Overall 3.x litres of fluid went in, but initially they had to fill it upto the top mark by upto 6 litres which had overflown later and they charged me for all 6 liters of ATF, but it was fine, as the work was done satisfactorily. They handed me over the extra oil to keep, incase a top up be required later.

Also they had requested me to give a letter of consent that work is carried upon my own request and responsibility, and that they had not insisted on having the replacement done.

I had done couple of highway trips between bangalore and hyderabad, gearshifts are smoother compared to earlier, even during the city drives.

Only complaint / observation right now is that the reverse gear engagement is a bit delayed (I am observing a lag of around 1 second) after the oil change, for which I had spoken to the service manager at VVC and they promised to have the calibration checked once again during next service.

below is the picture of the removed oil, and the damaged head of the screw.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Test Drive & Review

Hey Folks, this is a small write up in honor of my XUV500 which I finally sold on 17th Oct few days before I took delivery of the XUV700. Kept the car for close to 10yrs and did about 71000kms during the period. Given that 50% of those kms were in Bangalore city you can imagine the amount of time that car spent idling stuck in Bangalore traffic . The car was an absolute beast and a highway monster. I covered countless places around KA, TN, KL, AP over the years and also my Leh trip with my family and it never broke a sweat. Ownership experience was very smooth with literally no issues beyond the usual maintenance that I did every 10K kms. One of the reason I chose XUV700 over tuscon/kodiaq was my positive ownership experience with 500. Given it had black interiors and silver exterior it did age very well and I felt looked almost in new shape without any special treatments like ceramic coating or ppf.

Hopefully the next owner it finds will take care of it as I did over the years. Sharing few pictures I took for putting it on sale. I am sure you agree it looks pretty good for its age

Congratulations on your XUV700. How is the resale value for XUV500? My W10 AT will be 9 years in March and I've done only 55000 km. I'll be in your boots soon, searching for a replacement.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Test Drive & Review

The condition of the 500 speaks volumes about how you maintained it! I would say XUV500 owners are lucky since they have a very good product to upgrade. I have a CITY and I don't have a product within Honda to upgrade. Maybe Honda thinks City Owners can wait forever. Happy that I am soon coming into Mahindra Owner's world, getting my Roxx in November end!

Introducing and a question too!

Guys,
My name's Arun Mandala and this is my first huddle with the bhpians, though mostly a fence sitter for many years. I have owned and changed lot of cars as I grew in ranks, from the humble 800 to the XUV 500 today which I have been loyal to since 2016. Hope to have more insights going forward from all.

Speaking of my XUV now, I have two pertinent problems which I need support of
1. There's a growling noise that emerges from the AC Unit as and when I turn it on. The service center Anant Cars says you gotta replace everything, like buy a new compressor etc costing about 40k odd.
2. The Central console gave up a year ago, neither the radio or the bluetooth works, sometimes it just doesnt turn on. Even for this too, the service center says nonchalantly - Replace.

Any ideas please?
helps a lot!
Thank you
Arun

Speaking of your issue point wise.

1. Try 1st with replacing the entire AC compressor gas at the service centre along with compressor oil.

2. I faced the similar issue and got an android system fixed with canbus so that all the original feature of the car works. Make sure to get 4 gb 8 core processor of android system for seamless and lag free performance.
