The guy over the phone was asking me about my plans about buying an XUV and i thought ,let me see if he has the w8 in white readily available and gives me a better deal. So i said though i was planning to buy my car during Navratras but i don't mind buying if you have the car available. He just checked his inventory and informed me that the car is available and i can come and have a look. Anyways, i do not want my car before 4th and the other dealer with whom i have booked my car is a friend , so i was ok, told them i would come whenever i get time. But what baffled me is when he said " Sir you should buy xuv before next month because the prices for xuv are rising next month onward". Any of you here has any knowledge about this price hike? or is it just a bluff those guys are playing so that people book their car asap.

Hi Andy - Well i am in process of finalizing one too and the SA did mention there might be some price updates next month but nothing official so it may not be all bluff. while there could be some tempting schemes which are common during Navratras. Lets hope for the best!

Cheers!

Andy: Most of this is just bluffing. I was told the prices of the Mitsubishi Pajero are being raised by a lakh starting September but nothing has happened and moreover in a downtrend like this, car manufacturers just cannot afford to increase costs and loose further sales.

I so wish that all this is a bluff because it would really pinch if i take the delivery on 4th october at the new increased prices.

Carmakers are raising prices but most of the time, it's a way of charging the old price, making the customer feel like he's getting a great deal and at the same time, keeping profitability per car at the original level.

Maruti raised prices by 10k on all its models. However if you go to the dealership, there are massive discounts to be had. I think the xuv now has a few free insurance deals and maybe a cash discount as well. My boss considered it briefly which is how I know.

Bro, you pulled it off perfectly in that case . So XUV has one more feather in the cap. Wishing you safe driving days ahead.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Test Drive & Review

Hi,

Even I am looking to buy an XUV 5OO W6. I spoke with a couple of dealerships in Bangalore and what is being offered to me is 50% off on Insurance, (exchange in case of old car), and few freebies (hopefully).

From what has been shared with me is there is still an uncomfirmed thing on excise duty that got shaved off due to ground clearance. So that may come back soon. And dealer says the prices will be back to earlier level. Is that true?

Now that is tempting me to take the delivery by EOM. Can others please share their view on this? My preferred delivery would have been post Dussera and before Diwali.

...
The dealer insurance quotes are typically ~50K INR whereas you can get the same insurance from outside for ~30K INR. So the 50% off on discount is not worth more than 5000-10000 INR. The overall market is down, fuel-prices are hitting the sky and XUV's sales are majorly hit by other offerings from competitor. You should be able to negotiate a decent discount.

In Mumbai they are quoting insurance around 46000 which after discount is Rs. 23000 odd.

I have the on road price from 2 Navi Mumbai dealers at appx. 13,67,000.00 for W6 with alloy wheels, foot step, & seat covers included.

Even I have heard from some sources that the Government plans to bring in a change where-in it would not be possible to carry out minor changes in the vehicle to duck the duty slabs (like Mahindra did with the ground clearance).

No confirmation on when this will come though. With the elections round the corner, I don't think it would happen anytime soon.

Cheerzzz

Another information from the dealers is that M&M is planning an increase of 25-30 K across all models effective next month. So the dealers are pressing to book now and they will be able to provide the price protection by indenting the vehicle with M&M.

If this "price protection" is not being provided by the company, then I would take the dealers' claim with a big pinch of salt. The price lists with most dealers clearly mention that prices applicable at time of delivery will prevail.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Test Drive & Review

OK here is the deal. I think news is out on price hike speculatively and hence I am going ahead with this machine. However, I am still not sure on variant especially because I want save those 2l difference between w6 and w8. (My earliet budget was 10l when I had started hunting).
I will be really grateful if some one clatifies in below doubts ( I know some may be subjective... but still)
1- interior in w6 ( all test drive vehicle were w8) I haven't seen a w6 insides.
2- alloy options/ current wheel cover - how is the wheel cover , are there decent alloy options available?
3- ESP utility and GPS usage. As I have fully data enabled good GPS on my galaxy s3...can't I do without onboard GPS?

Thanks
