It is supposed to switch on when you select it in the infotainment system.
Get it checked at the service center.

I use it when I have a full load in the back and cant see a thing with IRVM. It helps in such situations.

Thanks for the info. When I checked my xuv it shows a black screen only. Guess they didnt activate it properly. Got to do it when I visit the service centre.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Test Drive & Review

In the last two weeks i read up quite a lot on two things that were bugging me with my XUV5OO w8 - BlueDoc:

1. Good Floor Mats and
2a. Pen drives for the music
2b. Charger for my phone(s)

1. Floor Mat
I wanted to buy the 3D Kagu mats but was not sure of the vendor's authenticity and value for money. I also read about the 3M Nomad loop mats and finally spent Rs 7500 in pune to get a grey colored mat. This price covered the 3 seating rows and the small toolbox area as well. My take on 3M Nomad is it is worth the money. See attached photos

2a. Pen drive for music
I have lots of music and my 6 year son loves yo yo honey singh, my wife loves kishore kumar and i love all kinds of stuff (i hardly get to hear it with my family). Now all this creates chaos when we go around so CDs don't help. So the only solution was to get pen-drives and listen to everybody's choice. The pen drives were bulky and the flap would not close with all the extension wires etc. So i bought a very small 8GB pen drive from ebay. Problem solved, no more messy cables. See attached photos
http://www.ebay.in/sch/i.html?_from=...n+disk&_sop=15

2b. We have 3 smart phones in the house and all 3 travel with the family. These smart phones drain so fast thanks to 3G and whatsapp. So I wanted a compact charger that would fit the small storage compartment below the infotainment module. Looked up at Ebay and bought a dual USB charger that fits nicely in the storage compartment. See attached photos

My next buy is going to be the INNOVV C1 front dash camera...

All comments welcome...

Cheers

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Test Drive & Review

Hello Friends,

Finally took the delivery of my XUV 5OO on 29th of August on auspicious day of Ganesh Chaturthi. Its a W6 silver colour model.

In first 100kms run i felt the following:-

1) The drive is excellent along with the engine being very quiet.

2) The clutch is smooth with a long play, no issues though.

3) I found the gear box very ok, being no issues in engaging any gear.

4) I think i have to get the alignment done as its pulling towards left. Should i get it rectified at the ASS or from a reputed shop?

5) When i press the umlock button of hatch i hear a weird and loud sound of motor inside it. Is it normal or only i am facing it?

6) The spare bulbs are missing from the glove box.

Here are the few pics of the beast.

Congratulations Rahul.. Happy driving

One question to all XUV owners...how do you stop the voice navigation which is running in the nav. I set a destination and started the trip but took a detour. My nav is still trying to get me back to the set destination. How do I stop this..

Rajiv.. Couple of things...you can use the USB drive in that small storage compartment for mobile charging. Also there is a USB port in the storage compartment at the top of the center console. That also can be used for charging. That USB is actually used for updating maps

There is a volume Icon at the bottom left side in the Navigation window. If u touch that it will mute the voice navigation alone.

Thanks. I have seen that and that's what I am doing now. But that does not stop the navigation. Is there any way to stop the navigation and just have the map displayed

Congrats Rajiv. I picked up a dash cam on ebay for 1600. It works great even at night. The one you've referenced is way more expensive.

Recording the road and stuff that happens in front of you on the road. I'm not sure if it's acceptable in court in case of an accident but it wouldn't hurt.

Press "Route " and select " Delete route " to stop the navigation and display the map only.

Press Menu>Sound>Volume buttons. You can adjust navigation volume or mute it.

If you want to stop the navigation then you need to delete the Route.

Bottom left corner there is a "Route" button. if you touch that there will be some option, if you scroll down there is a option to delete the route.

I hope this is the answer you are looking for.

Oops.!!!!! already this solution is given by Mr.Undead below.
