I mean at less than 40 kmph the brakes are inconsistent. Take a lot of time to respond.

Surprisingly at high speeds, the same lousy brakes are very good. Slam on brakes at 80 and vehicles comes to stop without a fuss.

But at low speeds there is lot, a lot of play. I almost rammed a vehicle at pedestrian speed thinking the brakes will have the same quick bite.

Is it same with all Dusters, or I need to get my brakes checked?
I guess its with all the Dusters.Brakes feel spongy at low speed.

After seeing the picture, i have checked mine and took a photo as well.

Its clean here.May be you should get it checked at service center.
My Duster is 2 months old.

Are you sure its 6k for both front & rear skid plates.
Can you post a picture with skid plates.

I will say definately it cannot be normal. Have you inspected the steering rack before or you are just guessing that it has developed lately. From corrosion point of view, this can only happen if the metal is exposed to very corrosive/acidic environment. Another possiblity may be they have fitted completely dissimilar metals ( high difference in EMF) in two spool pieces, which is causing one metal to eat away the other.

Whatever may be the reason do get it checked with the dealer and compare it with other Dusters. Most of the parts of Duster are now sourced locally and you never know how will these parts fare in the long run:- one reason why maruti and Hyundai are the preferred lot.

Its not the rack but the steering shaft.

Not at all normal & looks like a defective component. Demand a replacement ASAP.

Further rusting will lead to steering binding/locking up which is dangerous at high speed.

Re: Renault Duster : Official Review

It looks like both couplings are of a different finish.

Is this a camera effect or an inferior part getting in? Also it looks like chemical/acid rust than the normal iron flakes.

Other Duster owners might have to check theirs to get a better picture.

Duster with optional integrated audio system/sat-nav now available. Ecosport bringing on the heat. Whats not clear though is how much extra is Renault asking for it? The petrol owners (if any) have been short changed again.

This feature comes with OPTION pack variants. I had booked 85 PS RXL (O), 22,000 added with ex-show room price in Chennai. I am happy with the price and I will go for it.

However, there is no reverse camera, video etc.

Re: Renault Duster : Official Review

Agree with SandyX. It couldn't be a dissimilar metal corrosion since all Dusters would then have a problem. Besides, this type of corrosion takes a while to show up – maybe 2 years or so.
@nariyani : From the picture posted, there appears to be some spillage marks in the red-encircled area. Have you checked if there’s any fluid that’s leaking down the steering column in that area?
As mentioned above, it appears to be an acidic rust. Have you tried scraping it with a blunt metallic object? Did you notice it at the time of delivery?

Re: Renault Duster : Official Review

Guys, I came across this news feed that shows the new sat-nav-media system. Not sure about its authenticity, but this is the first pic I have seen. Even Renault India website doesn't have one. I hope it would be worth for the new price.

Hoping to get my Duster 85PS RxL(O) by end of Feb.

Re: Renault Duster : Official Review

Visited the Renault showroom yesterday, & saw the Duster & Scala. Was disappointed to a great extent with the pricing of the cars, especially the Duster, which does not has that redeeming features IMO, except for the ride & reliability (maybe, but most probably). Felt that the Duster was overpriced by Rs.1 to 2 Lacs across variants for missing features & the 4WD/ AWD. The build quality wasn't great either unlike the Logan, & felt that the body parts are too delicate to handle & operate (fear those would soon start falling apart of malfunctioning). Moreover, felt as if the interiors were forcible made upmarket to charge exorbitant premium. The legroom was even lesser than the cheaper Scala & with the rear AC, it worsened in the top variant.

One new thing, that I learned about the Duster, is that the 6th seat, which can be retrofitted in the boot, is eligible for RC endorsement. However, I have not yet verified the claims of the salesman.

Re: Renault Duster : Official Review

Absolutely abnormal. Complain immediately and ask them to address the issue.
This could be caused by some acidic leakage as others have said.
Also check your battery support tray within the engine bay and see if something is wrong there.

It is not normal at all, but looks like a one off. Good that you spotted it. The rust could be just on the surface but do get it changed ASAP. It is a very vulnerable spot.

Re: Renault Duster : Official Review

For a couple of days now I have noticed a very prominent rattle in my Monsieur Dracula coming - of all places - from the middle area of the windshield above the rear-view mirror. If I apply pressure on the glass above the RVM with my hand it does minimize and sometimes eliminate the rattle for as long as I keep my hand against the windshield.

Anybody else come across this?

Another one - the front doors creak when I brake. I'm always the driver with people seldom in the back seat so I'm not sure about the back doors. I have read about the Duster's door rattle issues but I'm not sure if I have the same problem as in my case it is more of a creaking sound than a rattle.

Could other owners please report if they have come across same/similar issues? If yes, how did you get these resolved?

I had a squeaking noise coming out of my VW Polo - and the service guys at last found it emanating from the rubber beading on the doors. Get them checked!
