Modding a GT TSI when in warranty is a risky move. The thing is, Volkswagen is very liberal in honouring warranties for the mechatronics but if you modify the car, they have a good reason to reject the claim.

The clutch pack is treated as a wear and tear item. Although it is covered under warranty if it fails, it won't be replaced once you are done with your warranty period. VW can replace the mechatronics as a goodwill but not sure about the clutch pack here. Again, any mods to the car void clutch pack warranty as well.

Do keep us updated with the purchase. The GT TSI is one hell of a car otherwise, and this itself is proved by the number of cars on the forum despite of the (in)famous DSG.

Vishy

Have you done some basic research whether second hand TSI,s are up for sale? In my opinion anyone who gets hooked on to TSI would only sell it if there is something wrong with it or there is a better option available in the hot hatch category in the Indian car market( at this price point). Presently, barring the Abarth, I don't see it. Of course, the Abarth has its own issues.

I got a used one, 17 months old it was and having covered 7000kms. The owner was selling it because he had to immediately move to bangalore from NCR and thus it was a distress sale. At that time, I had no reason not to buy this car. It was 9.80 lacs on road as new, i got it for 6.50 lacs all inclusive.

Yes i have. There are TSI's here and there. You are right that some of them being sold are not in a good condition. Couple of them have similar reasons like the one mentioned below by dhruvitzed. But then again i would never know if there are unreliability issues with the car.

That's pretty decent. There is a similar seller who is quoting 7.5. Right now the ar retails at 10.1 with few additional features.

If you, in your mind are convinced then go for it.
But do have another look before you leap.
All the best.

Every time I think of remapping my GT TSI, this is the first thing that comes to my mind. That temptation to remap and enjoy the car even more against the risk of the DSG failing - such a difficult situation to be in! I really can't decide whether to remap or to extend my warranty to another 2 years before Nov 18.

On the same note, at crawling speeds, I have noticed many times, a clunk noise usually when the gearbox shifts from D2 to D1. Any thoughts on that?

I have seen "Esperto Car Care" doing similar work on GT TSI on their FB page:

https://m.facebook.com/story.php?sto...932&__tn__=C-R

I'm not sure if one has to purchase stuff from them for fixing though. You can try contacting them.

I guess its a hit or miss with em. I already took the genuine armrest as a freebie from them along with an assured 50% buyback after 4 years.

Considering all of that the spoiler ain't doing me much good, I'd rather have the other sweeter pieces of the pie.
Hey Lionell, could you please share the details of the dealership or the salesperson from whom you purchased the GT TSI with the 4 year buyback scheme? The 4 year buyback gives a lot of confidence since it would also align with the end of the extended warranty, beyond which it gets kind of worrisome to own the 7-speed DSG. Much appreciated!

Thanks for the prompt reply BUT he is asking too much for installation.

Can someone else help here, please?

Will the VW workshop install it for me?

Thanks.

Re: Volkswagen Polo 1.2L GT TSI : Official Review

Took delivery of my new polo gt tsi on last week Friday.
Delivery went smoothly. The car was oct 2017 make. Had booked the car in dec 17, since the sa told the they were expecting a price hike of 30000 for 2018 stock. Selected the car which had good year as stock tyre.

Delivery:
No cash discount was offered for gt models although they had discount for vento and ameo.
Got mudflaps, full mat, cut mat , 3m sun film and horn as free.
30% discount was offered on zero dep insurance. Final rate worked out to 44k for insurance.
Total on Road including zero dep insurance : 10.65

Initial impressions:
This car is sure a pocket rocket. Ample torque is available as low as 1500 rpm.
Has more than enough power on tap.
The needle does a full sweep like the jetta when the key is turned on.
The audio system supports car play and it sure is a boon.
Compared to older polo models, the ground clearance had been raised significantly.
The fabric seats are very comfortable. I feel adding seat cover would nullify the comfort provided by the factory fitted seats.
Comes with 16 inch tyres.
The side mirrors and spoiler are black colour.

Was in the market for a pre owned 3 series. But changed my mind due to high ownership cost and the thought of flood vehicles from chennai area. But gt tsi has made up for all this with its insane engine and gear box.
Planning to keep the car stock cause do not want to mess up with high quality german mechatronics.

To the experts: can i connect a component, 4 channel amp and sub woofer to the stock head unit?

You can check with Adiga Automobiles near Banashankari. Somebody in the forum had got it done for a Vento tsi.

Thanks.
You can get it done at Adiga Automotives in Banashankari 3rd Stage.

Got quotes from multiple dealers for the paddles. Listing it out for others:
1. Polo normal paddle shifter steering:- 30000 ( no need to replace airbag)
2. Polo GTI steering with airbag:- 60000
