Is this the Nios face lift or the Grand i10 facelift? Because the Grand i10 is selling alongside it's latest Nios iteration?

Re: Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review

Hey, I have a query regarding the 2017 model pre ABS sports O model, if anyone had updated the firmware of the infotainment system?

My system is malfunctioning and the ASS is asking 1.5K just to flash the same. I think that is too much to ask.

Thanks for sharing the above. Looks like you managed to sell at the right time as the Spinny guy who came to pick up my 2015 Grandi10 Asta optional variant mentioned prices have come down in the last 3 months. I got 59-60% or my on road price and they only have me 7k more than the initial quote when i tried negotiating with the above article In fact, others like olx cash my car and true value offered 7k-10k more but the spinny process and employee behaviour was excellent and you could track the status step by step on their app!

Has anyone installed a boot lamp in the car? Mine is a 2019 Sports model which does not have provision for a boot lamp. There is a coupler present inside the cutout portion for the boot lamp.

Re: Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review

Update on father's Grand i10

4th-year service

Done on 25/03/2023
KMS on the odo: 34,420/-
Amount paid:5,418/-

Apart from the engine oil, oil filter, and air cleaner filter ac belt was changed since it had minor cuts. The clutch was hard and I asked them to change the clutch cable but that didn't solve the issue. One more issue that wasn't resolved is that the left side licence plate led bulb flickers sometimes.
Steering was making noise on rough roads. They diagnosed that some part in the steering needs replacement which was not in stock and was ordered. It's been two months but the part has not been shipped yet.

Tyre upgrade

Replaced the tyres with MRF ZLX 165/70/R14.The stock size was 165/65/R14. Ride quality is improved a lot since ZLX tyres are made for comfort and sidewall length is also increased by 7 mm. I didn't opt for the original tyre size since that was costly compared to 165/70.
Paid 13,650/- ( 3200 per tyre and 850 for wheel balancing and alignment.

Also, Dad managed to bump the car into a stationary tractor while backing up. A guy was assisting him just like in Candyman's Funny ad.

How has the handling, steering, efficiency of the car changed after you put on high profile tyres? It would be more comfortable I presume, but do you feel any drop in acceleration or handling quality?

Handling has not changed much but the steering has become slightly stiffer. There might be a slight decrease in acceleration and handling but not quite noticeable. The mileage test is pending. Earlier we used to get 16 to 18 kmpl by tankful to tankful method. (Isn't that quite high for Gi10? Mostly bhp'ians get around 11, 12 kmpl).
Hope this helps.

Re: Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review

My wife's grand i10 Sport AT has issues when she changes from P to D or R, there is jerk felt and then everything is fine. Initially SA told us that AT fluid is less and topped around 1 litre of the same. Now they are saying that ECU chip has issue and asking for replacement. Any suggestions?

Re: Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review

Try this and see.
When you stop the car to park, go to N, pull the handbrake.
Then put the car in P.
Switch the engine.

When you start again, it should be jerk free.

Re: Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review

Update on Grand i10

The tailgate and bumper had a big dent. We opted to claim insurance for the same.Claim was passed only for front windshield , tailgate and rear bumper. The running board was also damaged but they rejected that claim.SA said that we needed to file two separate claims for front windshield and rear bumper and tailgate. We paid 3600 in total.(1200 * 2 for two claims and 1200 for car paint polishing).

Overall, they did a good job and replaced the tailgate and bumper rather than repairing the old ones.Eagle-eyed BHPians will notice the old Grand i10 logo.

MICRO DIY

Smells were coming inside the car so I planned to cover the fresh air intake by opening the cowl panel.(Did the same DIY on my Baleno one year ago). This is a simple DIY and anyone can do this.(Hence Micro DIY)

Tools Needed:

1) Steel/aluminium mesh

2) Flat head screwdriver

3) 14 mm socket driver

4) Scissor

Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review-diy-8.jpg

Aluminium mesh was purchased.

Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review-diy-11.jpg

Cut down the mesh with scissors.

Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review-diy-17.jpg

Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review-diy-19.jpg

Lift the rubber caps and remove them.

Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review-diy-20.jpg

Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review-diy-21.jpg

Remove the wiper bolts using a socket driver.

Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review-diy-23.jpg

Slightly bend the left side wiper arm and pull it upwards to remove it.

Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review-diy-24.jpg

The right wiper arm will touch the bonnet while removing it.

Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review-diy-27.jpg

Close the bonnet and remove the right wiper arm.

Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review-diy-28.jpg

Two plastic tab clips are present on both sides.Gently push using a screwdriver.

Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review-diy-29.jpg

Pull the plastic tab clip upwards.

Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review-diy-31.jpg

Remove the wiper washer fluid pipe.

Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review-diy-30.jpg

Gently lift the cowl cover to remove it, which is held by one lock in the center.

Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review-diy-1.jpg

Remove the cowl cover.(Mine was cut by rats from the sides)

Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review-diy-2.jpg

Mess created by rats.

Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review-diy-3.jpg

The cowl was relatively clean for a four-year-old car.

Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review-diy-4.jpg

Flap closed.

Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review-diy-5.jpg

The flap opened and the AC filter is visible. This opens when we use fresh air mode in AC.

Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review-diy-6.jpg

Notice the holes present for water egress/mouse entry.

Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review-diy-7.jpg

Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review-diy-9.jpg

Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review-diy-10.jpg

Clean the flap and cowl using water.

Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review-diy-12.jpg

Attach the mesh to the open area.

Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review-diy-13.jpg

Mesh attached.(I did not want to screw any holes to attach the mesh)

Reverse all the steps to finish the DIY .Try to place the wiper arm in the exact original position since there are multiple indents made on the arm and the bolt.

Re: Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review

Excellent job. I think you could have gotten away with a little putty of some sort or even ftv gasket maker - it'll neutralize and potential reverb and vibrations.

Let me also add that using the anti rat sprays (no smell ones) are highly effective. Rats love my Mahindra engine covers. Ever since I've sprayed them, have yet to spot a trace. Protection is said to be good for 6 months + at a time. It's the 3M repellant.

Thanks brother.
I will use M-Seal to fix the mesh in that place. Will it remain stable for a long duration since the car is never stationary?

I don't think so. Mseal is rock solid. Its bond with a smooth surface will not last. Gasket maker will bond to just about anything and can still be peeled off at a later date. It even takes thermal expansion and vibrations extremely well. Ideally I'd recommend PU foam but that's rather permanent hah!

More about gasket maker? It's cheap. It's helpful in ways more than one. Buy it and do up any other potential rust spots / gaps / other home DIY. Cheers.

Re: Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review

After experimenting with all types of aftermarket trumpet horns like Roots, Hella, Minda, Etc.. Tried all types of wiring with a relay or without a relay. All used to fail within 1 to 1.5 yrs. randomly.

Finally, After too much deliberation Got original Creta Horns installed in my Grand i10 with original couplers and stock wiring.

Lesson learned that electronic horns are all about couplers. If the couplers are snug fit then horns will last more. All these electronic horns don't like varying current inputs. Check any Creta from 2015 or Seltos from 2019 to date there are very less complaints of stock horn failing.
