Okay, then the in house developed Suzuki 1.5 Diesel engine will first come in the sub compact SUV- the Vitara Brezza

For the S Cross the Fiat engines are still be imported and the trend continues. They have ~ 4000 MJD's imported as of now.

In house development for the 1.5L engine is delayed and will be launched sometime 1st Qtr of FY 18~19. This will basically replace the 1.3L DDiS. This will save MSIL royalty payouts to Fiat Powertrain.
This program seem to be fast tracked and looks like a 2017 launch. Also in development is the 1.2 diesel Suzuki engine.

There was earlier a talk of this being postponed but last week Autocar reported that Suzuki is very much ON this development.

Must be the 1.6 cost factor effect.

That's almost 2.5 - 3 years away!

DDiS 320 Zeta 13,03,000 -2,00,000 11,03,000
DDiS 320 Alpha 13,78,001 -2,00,000 11,78,001

These are Ex Showroom Noida Prices.
I was told that there are some freebees along with the Delta such as Alloy, Gramin etc etc.
Why such a massive discount, and then importing new 1.6L engines?

IMO, they have to do the following:

i. Stop selling Scross.
ii. Introduce <4m Vitara Brezza with 1.4L Petrol and 1.3L 90 BHP diesel engines, price it in the 6L - 9L range.
iii. Launch the new international Vitara with 1.4L TurboJet and 1.6L Diesel engines, and price it in the 9 - 12L range.

In my opinion, its an overstatement. The S-Cross 1.3 is selling quite decently in comparison (~2.5k per month) and I see absolutely no reason to discontinue the S-Cross. In fact, I know quite a few cases where potential Baleno customers at the end got converted to S-Cross customers.

Secondly, as far as I know, the new Vitarra will be sold through normal Maruti showrooms and not Nexa. So there is no way Maruti will stop selling the S-Cross and have just one product in the Nexa showrooms.

Frankly, if stopping to sell a car was the solution, then Fiat would have shutdown its India operations long ago. We have to give a chance to each product in the market, before marking it for death.

i. Stopping S Cross sales is very remote to happen and with the discounted 1.6 prices they seem to be a renewed interest in S Cross.

ii. Vitara Brezza is rumored to come in variety of engines- 1.5 petrol/1.4P , 1.3 DDiS/1.6DDiS

iii.The International Vitara is likely to come only in the top variant and in diesel only

Things will be clear in the Auto EXpo 2016.

The Suzuki developed diesels ( 1.5 and 1.2 L) are expected in 2017 or earlier.

In Chennai they are definitely not selling in good numbers, I hardly get to see a vehicle in my 40 kms of daily commute through the heart of the city. That being said the 1.6 still is a pleasure to drive and hope these discounts attract more customers.

My god!!

Its really tempting me to sell my Punto for what ever I can get and go purchase the DDIS 320. S Cross is such a competent vehicle specially in the 1.6 Litre disguise.

God Please give me some Will power!! I have just ordered a new HU for my Punto!!

Agree, but had Baleno been not there, some of them would have been potential SCross buyers - who wants a bigger but compact-enough-for-city car from Maruti stable. At the end, many of these kind of buyers converted to Baleno customers, compared to the limited number of people who became SCross customers, IMO.

OK, but how long they can sell the 1.6L Delta at the price of 1.3L Delta?

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

Are these Discounts available at the Mumbai Nexa outlets too?
I did call both of the Nexa showrooms but they are only offering 40,000 Loyalty/Exchange Bonus and nothing else on the Alpha variants of 1.3/1.6

Same in Bangalore, only 40k on either 1.3 Alpha or Zeta versions. But Delta is commanding 1.42L discounts (cash + loyalty).
Did anybody got a better deal on zeta? Waiting to see whether the zeta comes to <11L in namma Bengaluru :(

My colleague was quoted 14.40 lakhs OTR for 1.6 alpha. He is willing to go for it if it is offered at 14.2.

He booked 1.3 Delta, but had a casual TD of 1.6 and got smitten by it and is oscillating between 1.3 Delta and 1.6 alpha.

You can try Varun Nexa opp KBR park.

Guys, on that note, do you think 14.2 OTR (which includes the high 14% Road tax) is a good deal for 1.6 alpha? The original OTR is 16.9 lakhs.

If he spends most of his drive on highways, this is no-brainer - a 1.6 it should be.

He does 500 km trip every weekend to his hometown. His finances are a bit tight which is why he is having second thoughts on 1.6. SA is offering at 14.2 if I along with my colleague take the plunge for 1.6 alpha (two Cars to be bought). However I'm a Duster fan (sans the basic features offered), so I'm torn too for making the choice. I'm being offered 13.6 OTR for top variant on 110ps Duster(non AWD). Not sure how my decision goes or if I'll wait for another year.

By the way how is the NVH on 1.6? During my short TD it is better than 1.3. Can 1.6 owners throw some light on it.

14.2 is an excellent price, if I were in, I would blindly go for it. Even 14.4 is a terrific price. Remember this is a great car and was launched only a couple of months back.
