I doubt they'll pull the 1.6 out of the market, they'll reduce the production. Resale value might be low, but just enjoy the car for a long time.

Regarding spares: You may end up waiting for a few parts, but they'll generally be in stock I think.

The XUV 500 is really VFM, couldn't have come at a better time. What are the reasons for rejecting Creta?

Reasons for query?
1. Very low volumes of 1.6 selling in s cross.
2. Rumours of Suzuki developing their 1.5.
3. Quite a few unsold 1.6 lying in the inventories of the dealers. Most are July and August make and couple of September ones.
4. Dealers are too keen to make a sale.

Well I am sure you know what happened to the Kizashi, that being said lot of owners are happy with it and I don't think they have any problems servicing it.

If you like the car and plan to keep it for more than 5 years and aren't worried about the resale value, go for it, however bargain hard and ensure you get a good deal, else move on and search for another car that suits your requirements.

Had a look at the creta. Good car, but extremely long waiting periods, 6-7 months apparently.

I like the car, but usually change cars around 4 years or around 80-90k km. Don't really bother about the resale, but ride quality, service and availability of spares are a huge huge requirement for me.

Am talking about the discounts. Have been offered 1L on any variant of the 1.6. All sept manufactured though.

I was offered the usual 90000 discount and additionally B2B insurance of close to 42000 was also offered, so I would say bargain hard.

Although it's not strained with heavy load, it will take some time to catch that speed if you are concerned about KMPL. Otherwise keep the RPM above 2000 and the sluggishness will evaporate with some hit on the mileage(read around 15 kmpl). I guess with a car above 1200kgs you will be happy to get 15/20 kmpl in city/highway respectively.

Currently I am getting around 17kmpl in city traffic and never got below 22kmpl on highway even with heavy load. The best I managed on highway was 29.7 kmpl+ for 200 km of sedate driving with speed limiting 90kmpl. After that I lost patience and ended the 360km trip with 27kmpl.

On a whole 1.3 is not performance oriented, but will keep you happy with mileage and comfort.

Well thank you, my question was related to performance rather than FE. For a car this big and with that 1.3 engine, just wanted to understand if it struggles in case we want to do some spirited driving either in the city or highway with load.

Well that 1.3 engine beats other bigger engines hands down in a lower power tune. It is the national engine for a reason. Here the extra 15 horses make their presence known which is offset by the extra weight. It still beats the linea, the 85 ps duster, the Ecosport with better dynamics, but the machine doesn't like to be pushed too hard with the setting.

Want real performance, get the 1.6 and you will find every other car only on the orvm.

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

Minor Update:
Completed about 700 Kms in last 5 days in my Alpha 1.6. She is "Wolf in the body of Sheep" because of its ruthless power. As I drive to my hometown Meerut from Delhi every weekend, the car is getting lot of attention there as we hardly have any SCross in Meerut so far.
  • Till now getting average of 15.5 as per car odometer with 50% Highway 50% City traffic drive. And city drive include Delhi-Gurgaon torture so very happy with average.
  • So far keeping speed under 100 till 1000kms run. Please note I have no intention or habit to drive with high speed but sometime you cannot resist those empty flyovers and expressways.
  • Smartmedia system throws intermittent problems otherwise works well.
  • Posting some pictures including mats i got from Gurgaon. Cost me 4.5k but are very useful and easy to clean due to their unique double build. All you ahve to do is take them out and separate them from each other to let the dust go away.

Lovely add-ons there Sachin and looks the way it really must for all that power under the hood

I have driven the S-Cross 320 and boy she flies once that turbo kicks in. This is by far 'The BE(A)ST PRODUCT from Maruti ever.

The only glitch IMO are those headlights. With those HID Projectors, the silver surround looks pathetic.

Have you thought of going in for 'Headlight Blackening' option or something?

Just so that you know what I mean, this is what the transformation will look like:

2010 Polo Headlight with Silver surround

Maruti S-Cross : Official Review-2010-polo-headlight.jpg

2014 Polo Headlight with Blacked HL surround

P.S - I could not think of any other car to explain this example. So please ignore the facelift, bumper changes, etc. The focus here are the headlights.

Woah ! She looks hot man. I test drove the 1.6 only after I made all payment of my 1.3 and thought, I should have at least test driven the 1.6 once. Things might have been in a different world. 1.6 is a true monster. My family was scared with the super turbo boost after 2k RPM and were happy that I settled for the 1.3. Anyways...

Here's my 1.3 Zeta. I am still drafting my own thread and will publish it when I hit the 500 kms mark soon.

Very basic question guys

What is the service interval for S-Cross? Is it different for 1.3 and 1.6?

I thought it is 5000 kms. Can owners confirm?

IIRC it should be 1k, 5k, 10k and so on with intervals of 10K.

Edit: Will be same for both.

Yes, it sold 2222 units ( factory to dealer dispatches). I guess, either some of the production has been diverted to Baleno, or the S-Cross is really on a downfall.

If it's the latter, sad to see such a nice and well balanced car underperforming.

Seem to be a production constraint as priority given to Baleno. Dealer confirms bookings are more compared to the previous months with dealer stocks too being depleted.
