Am back Stanher and happened to visit my Fiat. The progress has been very slow since the person who was working on my car had been chucked out of service, the other capable person took a job in the Gulf and vamoosed. Well anyhow it has moved one step ahead and the first coat of primer has been applied. Sanding is yet to start which would be done shortly (I hope).

Am attaching a few pics taken this morning.

Hi Suren,

Real bummer bout the halt on the work!

Btw, just a quick query ('have exams now, until the 29th, so cant spend too much time here!)
What are those 2 holes on the bootlid for? Are they by chance the ones of the old Delight badge that was fitted there earlier?

Do have them closed before the paint starts! Oh, and also do have the lower 2 holes for the numberplate drilled!
Mnay times these people forget to either close unwanted holes or drill the right holes in the body panels!

Sad part is am continuing the work without the holes drilled on the Dicky for the Fiat 1100 Badge since I have been unsuccessful in procuring one. Any kind souls out here who have a spare one to sell would see me indebted to them for this.
Hey Suren,
This is Ravi. I have seen the original fiat 1100 badge (sloping) at chor bazaar, and can confidently say I'll procure one for you. Do get the holes drilled and the old holes closed.
Keeping an eye on your thread, keep up the good work. I'll soon be taking up my newly acquired super select for resto, and your thread is a great help and inspiration.
Chhers !

Hey Shyam, must say the most important thing just slipped my mind. Had overlooked that and the Bonnet Holes too, which were the holes for the non-original fitment. Have informed them to rectify these problems. Thank you buddy for pointing them out at the right time.

Hi there Ravi, Thats superb news, for this is one part that I have been unable to lay my hands on inspite of desperately searching all over the country side. Would be highly obliged if you could do me this favour.

With every step this beauty looks more and more better. Keep up the good work Suren. One thing. In the pics, the grille is kept on the floor of the car with some things on it. You know that these grills are delicate and a slight dent or scratch can be caused almost by nothing. Kindly wrap the grille in bubble wrap paper available easily and keep away from crowded (with parts) areas

Hey Suren
I've located the fiat 1100 badge you need. However, Maulana the dealer says it's not an original one, but a "new" one made in Delhi. Looks pretty good to me, but maybe not as good as the original italian one in terms of quality.
Any takes on this, guys ? Is it ok to go with this ? esp since Maulana said these are the only ones available nowadays, and you could get lucky with an original one only if a car is broken.
PM me you address if you want it, I'll courier it asap

Its definitely ok to go with this, as it is a pretty faithfull copy. As and when you find the original, you replace it, but never let go of the replica, god knows how long we will get these too.
