In my search for API brake cylinders for my Fiat 1100, I had gone to Sewri (A Mumbai suburb) but on-the-way to Sewri, I found this powder BLUE car.
The metal work is not very great.
Found another SELECT rotting in the same garage. The supposedly "OWNER" is planning to restore her but is 'short' of funds. There is car breaking yard just next door, I wish she does not end up there.
For the Mumbaikars - The location address is: Dr. S.S. Road, near M.D. College, Parel. It is walking distance from ITC Maratha hotel.

Default Electronic fuel pump and Mikuni carburetor

Guys, After stealing little time amidst weekends yesterday I had completed the installation of electronic fuel pump in my pp. Also I had installed a 118NE mikuni carburetor using my aluminium adapter. The accelerator pedal assembly of a Maruti 800 was modified to match the original pp pedal. The cable support from Maruti 800 carburetor was swapped to accommodate a 800 accelerator cable.
Used a filter from Maruti omni mpfi. The unclamped hoses in the photos have been properly clamped before testing the vehicle. Unfortunately I won't be able to hear a feedback about this work from the Fiat guru Mr. Behram Sir. Though I have taken reference from his older posts relevant to mikuni conversion and fuel pump.
Regards,
Ilango

Dear Ilango: I see low quality fuel pipe in the pictures. That yellow pipe will ruin your Mikuni and you will not know what hit you. Pl. change it to the pink one available at any Maruti Authorized spares dealer. Ask for Esteem fuel pipe. It comes in pre-cut size of around 2ft which is enough.

This same advice was given to me by our guru Dhabhar sahib so i remember.

Sure KK. Thanks for the feedback. Will swap it with a better hose in my next vacation. The car fitness needs renewal in the month of May. So I am in a hurry to keep the car running better without getting switched off in front of the RTO.
I had purchased a set of wheel cylinders. They will also go in during my next vacation.

Hello guys,

Can anyone help me in sourcing a "brake and clutch pedal shaft kit" for a Premier Padmini? It may be known as something else but this is what I was told.

Regards,

Prithvi

Default My Padmini, a budget restoration

As it was time for fitness renewal and had to patch up a few rust spots, we decided to get it painted warm Grey as mentioned in the RC book.
The front grill was painted matt black as it had lost its chrome while the blue logo was the painter's idea as he wanted to use the same paint from the air filter box. Got an new grill at home. Will install it when need arises.

Total cost for fitnes renewal and painting Rs15000/-.

Guys just a small update. For those who have non working Magneti Marelli horn for want of points. The point set from Roots Vibrasonic horn is a 100% direct fit. All you need is to solder the wires. In the picture with horns - left is MM and right is Roots horn. In the picture with points- left is MM point right is Roots point in MM housing. Hope this is of help.

What does the original petrol filler cap for the Super Select look like? The petrol door itself is lockable so I assume it should be a twist cap? I have tried to search on the net and have asked around but have not received a definite answer.

I recently saw a Padmini with a petrol cap which looks just like the engine oil cap on the tappet cover. Is that what a Super Select should have?

Would be grateful for a reference of an original cap.
