This car is being restored since a year by the Big Daddy of Fiats in Bengaluru. This surely be one of the hottest PADMINI in town.

Once complete, this will surely be the most mechanically fit FIAT of FCB.

The painting is just done. Will post more details of the car soon.
oh, awesome painting man. is this Mr.SMG's family car? that he has started restoring almost a year back? initially it was in silver colour i think. beautiful restoration

Not sure of its original color. This one has had a body change. Mr. SMG was very very particular about the color and hence travelled all the way to Chennai to get the paint. This isnt an originally offered color by Dupont. Its a combination of 2 colors. After several trial sprays, he zeroed on this color

This is a very old picture taken around year 2000. At a far distance is a fiat(circled). There used to be a Fiat parked next to the Seshadripuram swimming pool. I guess its registration number was CAU XXXX. It looked very stock, but was very powerful with a superb exhaust note. I guess it had headers and free flow. Car used to rip around the locality. Haven't seen it since very long.

Has anyone seen this car later or remember seeing it in those days?

So my request is: Who amongst the veterans of car restorers should this car be handed over to?
This SELECT landed in Bangy yesterday. Thanks to Sujith1100 for keeping in contact with Mr.Rony for the past three months. The car was driven from Mangalore without any problem. I have introduced Mr.Rony to the garage where the car will be Resto-Modernized! Its the same garage where FCB's 1069 Delight(Delight with AUDI grill) was modernized.

Mr.Rony is keen to have Power steering, Power Windows, Central locking, LCD screen, Imported sports seats, Alloy wheels etc It already has disc brakes and headers. Running on s1 engine. There is absolutely no original bits remaining in the car.

Some pics of the Select in present state.

For a few minutes, this car had made me feel jealous on that rally day. Right in front of this car (visible a little in this pic) was my President (MEO 2121). No one was looking at her at the rally

Very little fiat left in this car actually

But I must say that the modding was excellently done, looks and appreance wise. This said, the car is seen more often with mechanic than with the owner

I completely agree.I hate whats been done to this car but love how its been done. tThe execution is far better than we would expect in india. but the cosmetic mods are somewhat wannabe-ish. i guess the idea to modernise was good but the modern diffusers bumpers etc dont gel well with the classic lines with the car

Although the looks of the car may be a controversial topic to discuss in a Vintage and Classic Cars thread, one must surely agree that the workmanship on the car is simply superb. But however, Fiats in general are very very reliable species and like to be left alone. The more they are modified the reliability suffers.
