I spoke to the folks at 'Let's Gear Up' today, and they only have the SS1 Matte Black available in medium and large. The rest are out of stock.

I also spoke to someone from BikingSpirit Touring Equipment today, and they're out of Sol stock too.

I spoke to Mr. Gaurav from Megha enterprises and he has stock - I'm going to Lalbagh Road tomorrow to pick one up - need it for my Duke that's expected this Friday or Saturday.

I also called up Lets Gear Up today but as you said, most SOL models are out of stock.

Once you pick up your SOL from Megha, can you please update the price? Also, can you please check the avilability and price of SOL-68S-II in solid color?

Hey Anoop,

Picked up the SOL-68S-II (white, with design) today and it cost me 5667 inclusive of tax. Also picked up a Spartan riding jacket with armour for 6800 and some gloves (don't remember the brand name) for 700.

The 68S-II is available, but not in solid colour. For some reason SOL helmets are selling out real fast wherever I enquire; are they such a good bargain?

Good choice of helmet and jacket, but do invest in a good pair of gloves also.

I think the helmet which you picked up would be White metal man? Can you confirm if there are more of the same available?

I am not terribly happy with the metal man design but the other option is to wait one more month for the new shipment, so seriously thinking about picking up metal man or hornet or any SL 68S-II.

I think SOL is one of the best VFM helmets available now, if you do not have more than 5-6K to spend on a lid.

Went to Megha to buy the metalman but got a surprise - saw a solid color 68s there. There was only one piece so no choice of colors.

The price came to 5450 and they gave a skull cap and balaclava along with the lid.

Some pics of the lid:

Looks nice Anoop. I've rarely seen SOL helmets in solid colors (except for white and a few other colors).

I'd suggest you to add some reflective stickers on the helmet. Grey colored lids tend to blend into the surroundings and are not easily visible as per research findings.

Thank you Aditya. This is a good suggestion. Will add some more reflective stickers soon.

@mrohit17

Go for a shoei helmet. May be the multitec or even the RF1100. You have to source this from US and for the budget i would definitely look out for Shoei or bell or Gmax which i think comes with a rear LED as well to indicate some one is riding

YOu can also look at 1-time used helmet that goes for sale in few other forums and pick it if your lucky.

Does no one use or like the famous ARAI helmets any more?

@Shankar,

add that to the list Just mentioned a few based on the budget. In fact if someone is travelling from the states one can pick some really good helmets with internal visor for less than 200$ from bell or even shoei or other brands

When buying expensive helmets, it is always important to try them before buying, If it doesn't fit well, you'll end up kicking yourself.

The first time I set out to buy a Shoei X-11, it did not fit me well and ended up buying a Suomy Extreme Spec 1R. The second time I set out to buy Shoei X-12, I bought an Arai Corsair V. Both times Shoei was rejected because it did not fit me well.

General rule is if you have a round head, Arais fit better. If you have a square/rectangular head, Shoeis are better.

@SunnyBoi,

Agreed. But these helmets are easy to sell of knowing the demand we have here and the price some of local sellers quote.

The site i posted has lots of video and review and the size and shape of these helmets before one wants to buy.

I have bought the Helmet. I don't know why but you motivated me a lot. Thank you. Went in with a budget of 2.5K but the guy selling said add another 1K and you'll get the best. So I chose to go with him and added an extra 1000 bucks.

Special mention and applauding to Team-BHP'ian Shyamal Jethwa who gave me the shop dealer location.

Bought myself an LS2 FF 351 93-Poker.

Cost: Rs 3400.

Drove around 50 kms with this and it feels tight and hugging my face. Tried this a hundred times before purchase. Found it nice so bought without any double thoughts. No head movement due to winds and it feels steady. The visor is Day and Night one and it works well in keeping the glare out.

Let the picture do the talking:

In ls2 be aware of those fabrics getting out of their socket and the glue peeling of after sometime. Always check them and fix them without procrastinating. I have an ls2 and its quite worth the price and provides moderate shield to sound as well. Couple it with a bacalava and you should feel snuggly
