I am driving tomorrow after noon to Payangadi.

Below is the route i will be taking for my drive.

Bangalore > Mysore > HD kote > Baveli > Kattikulam > Manamthavady > Kottiyur > Iritty > Taliparamba > Payangadi.

Had couple of queries here

1) Which is the best route for Bangalore to mysore? SH 17 or NH 209? I have been taking the SH 17 all the time but wanted to know if NH is any better till mysore?

2) What time does the HD Kote route closes? 6 PM?

Any better options?

Forget the NH 209.

The HD Kote & Nagarahole closes at 6PM
The Muthanga closes at 9 PM

What time are you starting from Bangalore ?

Thanks nithin.

I was planning around 1:30. Do you think it is a good enough time to catch the HD kote route?

If you start at 1.30PM from HSR it will take at least 30 min to leave Bangalore City. If you can cross Mysore city max by 4.30 PM, you will be able to cross the check-post on time.

Friends,
Took the route Bangalore > Mysore > HD kote > Baveli > Kattikulam > Manamthavady > Kottiyur > Tellicherry. Really good roads except 7 kms (5 Km not so good road and 2 Km bad roads). started from banaglore on friday 1:45 PM reached tellicherry by 8:05 PM - Distance 334 KM, instead of 375Km via gundelpet.

So took the same route back on monday with my family, had lot of stops and did it in 8 hours.

Did you go via Periya -- Koothuparamba - Thalassery route? I am not sure Kottiyoor comes somewhere between Mananthavaadi and Koothuparamba?

Sarin

Yes, I took the Kottiyur > nedumpoyil > Koothuparamba > Tellicherry route. Kottiyoor comes between Mananthavaadi and Koothuparamba, just after boys town >pal churam > Kottiyur .

Isn't Kottiyoor on Mananthavady-Iritti route?

I don't remember seeing any town of such name in the Mananthavadi-Koothuparamba route. Where as I did see Kottiyoor and a diversion towards Kottiyoor temple between Mananthavady-Iritty.

Confused.

There are 2 route between Mananthavadi > & Nedumpoyil > Koothuparamba.
Option 1: Normal straight route, no deviation
Option 2: After talapuzha > you can take a right towards Boys town, this take you via Palchuram (steep curves) and the next small town is kottiyur.

I was using a tracking device.. attached is the map for your reference.

Where exactly did you take deviation from Mananthavady-Iritty route? Kanichar? The map is not very clear due to the numbered dots. How is the road condition from Kanichar to Koothuparamba? How much distance?

I had taken routes mentioned here and here.

I am not sure about the name of the place, it comes just after a tea garden. there are few shops and there is a road which goes to the right with sign boards mentioning "Kottiyoor" & "Boys Town". In the attached map the deviation is at point 48, hope this helps.

Raj, Check for the sign board "Kottiyur Temple - 10KM" in you right hand side after 9km from Manathawadi towards Nedumpoyil. The place name is Perya. The sign board will come after you see the Perya Peak Tea Factory on the hill top on ur left hand side. ( I hope my memories are correct..!!)

While proceeding towards Irrity via Kottiyur, remember to take the right turn towards Peravur after Manathana. There are chances that u may miss this.

Thanks
Rajesh

Iritty to KushalNagar | Help Needed

Hi Folks,

I'm planning a short-family trip with my family to Kushalnagar in our car. We'll be starting from Calicut and I've no doubts regarding the route to Iritty(From Calicut)

Btw, I heard from my friend that the road from Iritty to Virajpet is closed for repair works. So, I want you to throw some light on the same

I would be very pleased if someone suggests me an alternate route

Thanks in advance

Regards,
KlubClass aka Amith

Virajpet Road is closed. Try this.

Calicut---> Waynad--->Manandavadi---> Kutta--->Gonicoppal---> Ammathi---> Siddapur,--->Kushalnagar.

Bishan
