Try Amanvana Spa located at Kushalnagar - Google for details. Great location and excellent room and food. Bargain hard to bring it down to your budget.

You can also look at options by TATA coffee in Plantation Trails.

Mahindra Homestays are good options too. We have stayed in Polycad estate and is VFM.

Neemrana Hotels has come up with a new heritage hotel. Check that out in their website.

If you are looking for some homestays, i found this website very useful as it list many homestays in Coorg

Thanks Faujisaab, was just looking at Amanvana. The prices at most of the resorts are doubled on new years eve.
Mahindra is out of budget. Will have a look at Neemrana.
Want a relaxing holiday. Looking forward to spending the entire day in a resort. So not really looking at homestays.

EDIT: The Neemrana hotel looks like a Bhoot Bunglow. No way am going to stay there

The other resorts apart from Aman Vana are Orange county - Prohibitively expensive - and Winflower - which is not VF.. Why don't you look at Kadkani resorts. There were good reviews in this forum.

Kadkani looks good. They didnt have any tariff info on their website. Have sent a mail . I am waiting for their response.
Windflower looked great to me, until I saw the tariff. Horse riding got me excited.

We stayed in Windflower two month back. Excellent location in the middle of a plantation. Huge rooms and lovely pool. Somehow, we felt that the property is not maintained well and food was average. For the kind of money they are charging, we felt it is too high and definitely not VFM unless you are able to strike a bargain.

Of the two, i would rate Amanvana far superior with fabulous rooms, great location, lovely pool, good food and excellent spa.

Negotiate for good rates and try for Amanvana.

Your preference is for Resorts and not homestays , correct?

Windflower looks very expensive too. I will anyways send them a mail too and check what they offer.

yes, Resorts only. As mentioned, a relaxed holiday. Resting by the pool side, doing nothing. Or I can say a lazy holiday

Re: Coorg recommendations

MODS: I searched this thread for before posting this query but could not find an appropriate answer.

I am looking for accommodation in Coorg at the end of April (I know it's going to be HOT but I have no choice) and my biggest requirement is that the place be dog-friendly and child-friendly.

Can someone please suggest any home-stays/resorts which fit this requirement? The group will tentatively have seven adults, two babies and a dog.

Cheers!

PS - Air-conditioning is also a must.

Re: Coorg recommendations

We had stayed at the Coffeecreek in Coorg last April.
It's owned by one of the BHPIans - PrinceZahed. you can PM him for more details.
I was quite happy with the stay at his homestay.

Coorg's always very pleasant in the mornings and evenings. The trick is to follow the birds- they relax between 10:30-3. Around our place at least, there's a lovely afternoon breeze starting around 12 in March/April just perfect for hitting a hammock with a book.

Bluu,

Check out this website which has a list of good homestays in Coorg.

www.travelmalnad.com

Mahindra Homestays also have some nice properties.

You dont need AC as such. Fan should do good. It won't be so hot as you fear.

Re: Coorg recommendations

Thanks everyone! The reason I mentioned the air-conditioning was because we have two babies traveling and would not want them to be uncomfortable. Doting parent and what-not!
