Yes, a few of my friends were stuck on Mysore Road for hours due to this today. This morning between 6-11am. It took quite some time to get past Bidadi.

The aftermath pile up was there even till Nice road exit.

Go via the other routes, at least for this weekend.

Re: Driving between Bangalore and Mysore

Dated 27th Aug, there is a whatsapp forward asking people not to use Mysore-Bangalore highway for next three days due to blockades caused by rains.
Not sure about the authenticity though.

Thanks for sharing.

This note is genuine, it came from Ramanagara Police Twitter handle.

I will take the Pandavapura route, please suggest good restaurants on the Pandavapura route.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, the only options on this route are the regular ones on BLR-MLR highway (NH75):
  • Swathi Delicacy
  • Paakashala
  • Dhruvathare (best)

The stretch from Bellur Cross to Pandavapura is very good, and will take less than an hour with relaxed driving. So after stopping at either of these places, you can take the next break at Mysuru itself.

Videos of horrifying situation of floods in Bangalore Mysore Road today are being circulated, around Ramanagara.

Do avoid it today or probably for next couple of days.

Must be old ones. Yesterday my Father-in-law travelled to Bangalore from Mysore, there was no flooding and no issues.

No sir.

A friend of mine was stuck today and diverted to Kanakapura Road. Traffic piled up for 10 kms as per him.

Ramanagara - Bidadi stretch is flooded.

It in fact rained heavily last night.

Seems like it was over the weekend:

What a mess and this is the new road! Going to stick to the train for my trips to Mysore and back till this road is completely done.

Re: Driving between Bangalore and Mysore

Hello everyone
I m planning to travel tomorrow to Virajpet. I was planning to travel via mysore road but that looks impossible now. For alternate route what would be better:
a) via Kanakapura (currently thinking about this since I stay at Sarjapur Road and it's closer)
b) via kunigal

You are right, this happened overnight. Situation is quite bad. Looks like I will stick to Kanakapura route till the rain subsides fully.

Route A, as the starting is from Sarjapur Road. Expect some traffic as most traffic from Mysore Road will move to that one.

Kunigal route any day for a stress free drive.

Kunigal - Pandavapura - Ilawal - Hunsur - Gonikoppalu - Veerarajendrapete (might help save you a few mins at max over the second below)

OR

Kunigal - CR Patna - Arakalgud - Ramanathapura - Kushalnagar - Siddapura - Veerarajendrapete

(PS, pls stick to balenoed_'s suggestion - missed that you were starting from near Sarjapur road )

Re: Bangalore-Mysore Expressway status & updates thread

Need suggestion on Chennai-Mysore route, plan to start from Chennai at 2pm on 14th Sep.

1) Gmap suggest an option to by-pass Bglre Nice road by taking a deviation at Hosur via Hosur airport, Jojgeri, Kodihalli, Shivanahalli, joins Malavalli-Mysore road. Is this good route, gmap pic shown below.

2) Or just go by legacy route with Electronic city-Nice road-Bidadi-Ramanagara (hope situation improves in 2 weeks)-Mandya-Mysore?

3) or take Nice ring road-Nelamangala-Kunigal-Srirangapatna-Mysore?

On the return from Mysore, need to stop over at Silk Institute Metro station, which of the route option can be the best?

Option1 Gmap pic:

I would still suggest going via Kunigal and avoid Mysore totally. Its much better that way. At least while going, since you start early reach Nelamangala won't be a problem.

Another good option is: Kunigal-CR Patna-Holenarasipu-KR Nagar-Hunsur-Virajpet. A slightly longer route but stress free. Holenarasipur to KR Nagar is a belter (part of the Mysore-Hassan Highway). KR Nagar to Hunsur is nice road bit single lane. One good reason to take Hassan highway is you get lots of hotels on the 4-lane before you exit at CR Patna.

Also note: Lots bad roads have been reported around Holenarasipur to Arkalagud. But the Holenarasipur-KR Nagar is a belter. Only rough sections when you approach the Cauvery bridge and KR Nagar.

Kanakpura road is a good option if you can start early and beat the traffic till Kanakapura. But then you need to then plan breakfast in Mysore. No good options on the way.

While coming back, I dont think any option is good. Either way you have the face Bangalore city. Choice is yours.
