Re: Team-BHPians and their Pets

Carboy, thanks for this. Since i live in an apartment, i undertook for my cat to not have babies.

In a farm, i intend to allow animals to live in and enjoy their natural habitat and follow their own karmic path.

An interesting article that throws light on how human greed, or should I say whims and fancies, has resulted in interbreeding in both dogs and cats, especially dogs, to make them fashionable. This has now reached a stage where the breeds face severe health issues and vets are calling for kennel clubs and breeders to stop this anamoly.

The love pug: why our passion for flat-faced dogs and cats has to stop

This was a recognised thing in my childhood (I am over 60) so don't hold your breath waiting for a change for the better on this one

An interesting point Thad & I'm glad you brought it up! What we experience is something a bit more exotic (I'll try and take a photo the next time it happens) though I'm sure other members here may have observed it too.

Pearl, our white boxer bitch gets the hots for Kluso, her mate, every time she comes into season. Kluso, as you may have seen on these pages, is a proper muscle-bound example of male boxer-hood (pardon the word play!). So it is quite amusing to see the petite Pearl trying to mount Kluso, who studiously ignores these odd shenanigans on his mate's part.

Once she has got this aberration out of her system, she reverts to form (coy & feminine!) and lets Kluso do his stuff. Over time we have learnt to take all this in our stride as normal canine behavior!

Short video of me and my dog hiking -

With the rise of pet parents and pet industry in India, I feel we need more pet-friendly locations.

Some pictures of me and my dog, Kanna exploring the KRS backwaters near Mysore. He absolutely loves the jeep.

I lost my 17 year old cat Mintu 2 weeks back to kidney failure.
He was my companion while growing up. I was only 7 years old when I had brought him home. I am 24 today.
He was with me during my primary and second school, during my junior college, through degree college and also through 3 years of my work life.

My parents and I couldn't imagine a life without him, but alas he is gone !

He didn't eat anything in the last 15-20 days of his life and had lost all his weight. We knew the end was near when he stopped meowing.
He breathed his last breathe on 19th February 2018 in front of all of us.

May his soul rest in peace.

In his heydays he use to weigh around 10kgs. He lost almost 80% weight in the past six months of his life. He had stopped eating six months back too when I had put him on a renal diet on advice by the doctor. But after I changed the food brand to Royal Canine(his regular brand) he started eating again.

You will always be in our memories and our hearts mintu, goodbye.

Sorry about that. My cat looks like a younger & thinner version of your cat - 1.5 years old.

Sorry to hear about your loss. It leaves us inconsolable when our beloved 4 legged friends leave us. I started having such companions from my childhood too. I will have them till I die.

My condolences to you at this trying time. We are dog lovers, but I understand very well what you are going through, having experienced such a loss more than once. If I may I'd suggest that you get another pet as soon as you can. No better therapy to get you through such times.

Regards,
Shashanka

Re: Team-BHPians and their Pets

Very Sorry to hear the loss of your friend Dean5545. I have always had pets at home and have been through the same multiple times. And the only way to feel better is get another companion home.

Here's our 14 month old brat- Bailey.

Bailey is so adorable and cute. And what a transformation from the puppy stage.

Is she a beagle?

Yes, she is a beagle. She just looks adorable and cute but the kind of mischief she is always upto is unimaginable.
