This place is apt for your demand of good starters.

Punjab Grill by Jiggs Kalra, opp Forum Mall, Koramangala.

BTW;Have a look at Groupon and likes for any ongoing offers for Punjab Grill.Do not ever forget to order the cold paan (betel leaf) drink after
your meal.

In addition to Waseem's reccomendation I would also reccomend Aangan(its a family run place)at Koramangala and Central street(if it still exists there)It has been my favourite since my college days in the 90s.Chalo Punjab on 80ft road koramangala opposite the IBP pump is also very good

Do consider 'Punjabi by Nature', its diagonally opposite Forum Mall (Koramangala) while on the Christ college side. The menu is not as detailed as some other restaurants, but the food is quiet good.

PS: Do note that their Naans are massive. A single one should be sufficient for 2 persons easily

Great news to see biryani chains are attracting private equity investment. Hopefully the Paradise biryani of Hyderabad will come to Bangalore and other cities soon? Only hope they are able to maintain consistency in quality across cities. I was recently in Hyderabad and had some great biryani there.

Ammis biryani however is nowhere close to the bigwigs. Poor quality, and needlessly overpriced. Packaging in a fancy box does nothing to improve the basic taste of the core dish!

I also hope that Paradise comes to Bangalore and it maintains consistency.I have been a regular at Paradise from my childhood days and Biryani there has never disappointed me, barring a couple of instances.

I am just counting my days here, 10 more months and i will be back in Hyderabad.

Speaking of biryani, I am hoping to order home delivery from Alishan (Arsalan) for a small get-together on the weekend. Any feedback on their menu? Planning to order 50% chicken and 50% mutton biryani plus a few side dishes (one type) - any recommendations?

Biryani of the Bengali/Calcutta type (i.e. the kind you will get in Alishan) is best accompanied by Chicken and Mutton Chaap. Try that as a side dish, and ask them to give a bit of extra gravy.

I second this. Sher Khan haleem was much better than the generally recommended place in Jayanagar 4th Block(forgot the name of the place ). Try to pick it up before 8. They run of it if you walk in late.

Went to Punjab Grill (Opp Forum Mall) yesterday with 20 other coworkers. Opted for the package of 1499 each with unlimited selected cocktail and mocktail. Below are the observations:

* The seating arrangement was pathetic.
* The waiters were not at all interested in serving food.
* Not even a single dish came on time and we had to remind them many a times to get something on the plate.
* Anything outside the regular menu came within no time.
* They kept wine bottles on the table and were hesitant to tell the prices even after asking.
* They did not even serve the main course and people left the place with frustration. Just imagine they came up with one small pot of Biriyani to serve 22 people. When some one lost patience, one of the waiter came up with a bowl of white rice.

* Final bill was a whopping 72K INR. None of us would ever visit there.

Conclusion- Pathetic place. Avoid.
