Re: The Hindi Movies Thread

Can somebody explain me what happened at the end ? They again became strippers/escorts ??!!

Movie making today has become a timepass business. I still don't understand motive behind such a movie !

Its hightime Akshay Kumar should take VRS. His acting has become tortorous than even SRK's.

Anyway the movie was meaningless but onetime watchable.

Re: The Hindi Movies Thread

Just saw "The Dirty Picture".

Found it to be a good timepass watch. Vidya Balan has done a fabulous job! Dialogues are to be heard to be impressed..( read Funny)

Sample this: "Jawani taste ke liye hoti hai, waste karne ke liye nahi.."

" Girlfriend shuru mein Malai lagti hai, phir Cholestrol ki tarah, Phir Direct heart attack.."

I liked it except the climax between Emraan & Vidya, which I found to be too long & their love angle to be unneccessary .

Tusshar Kapoor is better producing Serials with his Sister only, poorest act in the whole movie.

Naseeruddin Shah is also good as an aged Hindi movies 80's star.

Overall rating 3.5/5.

Not Meant for family watching..

loved the Start song in background Titles..

Good Movie!

Re: The Hindi Movies Thread

Watched Dirty Picture yesterday:

Vidya did a good job and it is her movie. Me too did not like the Emran-Vidya love story, they could have trimmed that portion and that song was out of place.

Nasruddin Shah was convincing as the old hero in the 80s. Emran did a decent job. Tushar was OK and his fantasy dance (few seconds) was hilarious.

Music is average and that tamil title track was irritating

Watch it for Vidya Balan - she did a good job eventhough she looks nowhere close to Silk Smitha.

3.5/5

Re: The Hindi Movies Thread

Watched 'The Dirty Picture'.
I feel Silk Smitha fans should take creators of this monstority to court ;-)
How on earth could anyone have ever hoped an average actress like Vidya Balan could bring to screen the utter sensousness that SILK exuded and coated on each and every frame of her movies with. Those hooded eyes, that pout, the come-hither look ... beyond compare, beyond 'bringing-back-to-life'.

Coming to matters on hand, this is an out and out Vidya Balan film, with the ever dependable Naseerudin Shah going through the motions totally disinterested and seemingly perpetually high on fine malt/grape juice.
Even though V.Balan is irritatingly over-the-top (pun intended) in few frames, she does manage to show sincereity in a few of the others.

First half was fun. Second half .. well, i could have left during the intermission and not missed much.

But what really left me hot under the collar was not V.Balan and her on-screen rolls and sighs, but all those parents dragging their pre-teen children to a very clearly certified 'A' film. These yuppie parents appeared educated and posh, so certainly they must be aware of what A-certification means. Pure nut-cases!

2/5 - for not doing justice to SILK, despite the standard disclaimer rolling at the very beginning of the film.

All righty then, so maybe its the in-thing these days to watch Adult movies with teenage daughters. I'll make a note of that.

Gosh, am so out-of-touch with modern life.

Modern life? I don't think Indians ever understood the meaning of moving ratings. Let's think about 1980. When I was in 7th grade we went on a school trip to Ooty. We were bus load of 11-12 year old boys and girls, and a bunch of catholic nuns. While we were in Ooty, our nun faculty took us all out for a late night movie in the local theater.

Think again, bus load of 11-12 old boys and girls and catholic nuns.

This was the movie: Sigappu Rojakkal (1978) - Plot Summary

I was so shocked and bewildered when they announced the movie with Vidya.

Leaving acting skills aside, she's the one with the most homely, Indian-looking almost bhabiji type look and image.

Someone like BIps would have been the better choice anyday.

Re: The Hindi Movies Thread

Makes a lot of sense Samurai. See it from the nuns angle, their agenda(like most teachers/parents) was to instill fear in the heart of youngsters towards fornication. Have fun = Die = remain celibate = Mission accomplished. Clever teachers psyching their wards.

Re: The Hindi Movies Thread

Watched Rockstar this weekend.

Its shocking to know that This movie is Written & Directed by Imtiaz Ali. The down is downright pathetic. The posters look weird just like the movie. There is absolutely no flow in the movie. The changes in the main character are sudden & often unexplained (atleast to the degree to which the character keeps changing). The Songs are awful, I was expecting a great visual for the song "Sheher Mein" after listening to it but what a waste.

The new Girl looks pretty but that's about it. The movie has no Rockstar element just the author's wild fantasy about what or how a Rockstar is. The movie does have its nice moments but they are killed by the overall poor direction & story telling.

Re: The Hindi Movies Thread

"The Dirty Picture".

Vidya Balan was the heart and soul of the movie even though I am not too fond of her acting and her masculine style of dialogue delivery.

The overall look and feel of the movie is B-gradish despite all major starcast ( Perhaps to attain the 80's era feel)

Most of the scenes and dialogues are really beyond censorship as too much of ooh and aah's in the movie and as all said found it bewildering that familes with their kids are coming to see this movie which is clearly going to put them through a lot of embarrasment.

I must confess that even though Vidya did a decent take on Silk and despite so much cleavage show she was no patch on the original SS who was sultry beyond comparison

Did anyone notice? While the movie is shown as set in Tamil Nadu and Naseer, Tushaar and Emraan are all "supposedly" tamilian including SS who was actually from Andhra Pradesh speak such flawless and northern style Hindi.

Anyways, dont want to sound like a critic.

Ekta again did a fair job and this movie is a decent watch overall

Re: The Hindi Movies Thread

Movie: Ladies vs Ricky Bahl

Review: Another Yash Raj Production. Recently Yash Raj productions have been very different. They have shifted from the romantics and trying out different stories. Anushka seems to be their favourite girl now. I always liked Anuskha from her first movie - I think it was Rab Ne Bana di Jodi. She looks good and acts well too. One look at the trailer and you know the story and it is exactly the same. Do not expect anything surprising or different - What you will enjoy is the execution. I am not saying it is a brilliant movie but just a movie you would watch to pass your time. Acting wise - I liked the role of Dimple (The girl from Delhi). Ranbir was good and Anushka also did a decent job. Anushka I suppose comes after half time so she had less screen time than some of the other actors. Music at some places is good. It is not a movie you will remember after coming out of the hall but it would surely keep you engaged inside the theatre.

Re: The Hindi Movies Thread

Don 2 is superior to its prequel in every possible
way. Its more like an action thriller of hollywood
from early 90s. Nothing out of box but still an engaging watch.
SRK delivers this time : Good body language, impressive action stunts and ofcourse no 'overacting' crap.
Rest of the cast obviously got eclipsed as is with most SRK movies.
Good background score. Decent storyline and strangely convincing for a hindi movie.
Good job !

Special mention for Hyundai cars as new Sonata and Santa Fe were the part of a chase sequence. Great way to promote the cars I must say. Ofcourse going by the handling capabilities of hyundai cars, the drivers have had a difficult time
PS : Avoid 3D. Substandard work. Go for 2D
