1200 Rs is the price for black pilot in most of the showrooms. Sometimes one can get 10% discount. The other hand winds are similarly priced around 1000 Rs and above. This has been the price for the last few months I think. I bought it for Rs 800 mid last year.

Had to personally visit Kashmere Gate's GPO Post Office.
The person there Mr.Rajiv was really polite & gentle. He showed me all the watches he had.
These were the last two pieces of the Pilot & he said he has no information as to when they'll get new stock.
The black one had a minor scratch on the crystal to which he said, i can get it repaired free of cost from the Jhandewalan HMT centre.

Here are few snaps of the Pilots & the HMT counter at Kashmere Gate (Delhi).
How much did the white pilot cost you?

Sir they did have a Janata but without the Hindi alphabets.

I searched all over the Internet for the pilot till this morning but couldn't find a reasonable deal.
I specially travelled all the way to kashmere gate and now I get to see this particular deal on Flipkart :-/
Anyways I still a rare white pilot, so I am still happy

We demand a lume shot of this! It is going to be killer I reckon! Expose the watch to some bright light, take it into a pitch dark room and click a snap. Please!
Here you go sir!!!

Here is mine. Bought by my grandpa in 1969, still going strong! I wear it even as I type this!

What a pristine Seiko gansan. You are super lucky. I got it for 12,500 post discount from Snapdeal (they have a 25% off code). The funny thing is that the warranty card and the bill say nothing about Snapdeal. They have the dealers name on it and that's about it.

You reckon this will survive as my daily beater? Also, is the hardlex glass as scratch resistant as sapphire crystal?

Seiko-5s are very tough and long lasting. There will be no issue using it as your daily beater. But I really have no idea about hardex glass. All my watches have either plain lens or saphire crystal.

Here is a hand-wind Favre-Leuba, also bought by my grandpa in 1965, which came out of a 20 year hibernation after I found it in a box in the attic! The lens and the strap had to be replaced, but otherwise working fine.

I have been longing for a Seiko's automatic since long. I might get one shortly Vitamin M permitting!

Seiko's diver watches have a bright lasting lume or so I have been told. Do have a look - Seiko lume - Google Images

Guys, where/how do you store your watches? I simply keep them in a section of my cupboard. I would like to get a box sooner or later.

Thanks so much Gannu. The lume is really great. Last for about an hour in the dark.

You can get a Seiko 5 starting at about 5k on watchkart or snapdeal. Hope to see you soon on the 5 bandwagon.

I store my watches in the boxes they come in. Still, considering and have been considering a proper watch case. Maybe one day, if I can stop buying new watches and stick with what I have.

Need to flog some off. Maybe time to gift them to people.

re: Which watch do you own?

Well, HMT watches seem to be the flavour of the month. So I dug out a 35-year-old HMT Kanchan that belonged to my FIL, and took it along to the HMT service centre at Jhandewalan.

A few weeks later, I got a new dial and case, and a new strap, for the old heart (which beat as steadily as it did 35 years ago) - and here's the result of Rs.1100 of expenses and 2 weeks of waiting. Not that I particularly like the all-golden look of the watch, but hey, it's got history and heritage behind it, and will stay in the family for another 35 years if I can help it!

Which watch do you own?-dsc06812.jpg

The person in-charge, Product Service, one Mr. Ishwar Chand, was very helpful.
