I could be wrong, but I don't think you'll get any Seiko automatic model without the day/date window on the dial.

For an affordable and good looking automatic in the Seiko range, check this model that forum member "architect" has got: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/shifti...ml#post2582579

I think the model # of the above watch is SNKA01K1. There's a blue dialled variant of the same, whose model # is SNKA05K1. More details here: http://www.seiko.in/products/product...am=7&param1=23

Cheers,
Vikram

On further research came to know there are seiko automatics with just the date dial and not day. But they are priced much above the seiko 5 series.

Yes nice watch; only downside being i will be stuck with that bracelet for life since SNKA01K1 has integrated bracelet. With any sieko i buy, i intend to throw away the bracelet and replace with a nice black/tan leather strap. Iam more inclined towards bhpian Puneet.S' SNX111K1. I can put an 18mm stap on it and its VERY elegant.

Unfortunately seiko does not any longer make the lovely & classical SNK789

But i still find that day/date window intrusive....

Became a proud owner of a Seiko solar SNE115P1 today. Love its bluish dial. Its a solar watch. Bought it at Ethos store in Orion mall Bangalore.

Will not be buying a Seiko anymore, coz i bought a mint NOS HMT Rajat today evening. Was passing by town hall and thought of dropping in at Lakshmi watch shop and saying hi to the friendly old man there. Was stunned to see this lovely mint looking Rajat smiling up at me from the display case. Parted very quickly with Rs.1395/- and grabbed it before anyone else could. That is how much i have lusted for a Rajat for a long time now. Got the SS bracelet changed to a good quality leather strap. As per the old man, the serial number on the screw down case back indicates my Rajat is of 2002 'vintage'.

Never expected a NOS to fall in my lap. On cloud #9 right now.

Watch looks exactly like in these pics...
http://www.orientalwatchsite.com/for...made-in-india/

So with the Pilot and Rajat i end my HMT watch acquisition spree. Any more, and i will be dragged to the nearest Family Court.

Seiko Orange Monster

This baby's 10 years old. Originally came with a resin strap, but I switched to the metal one a few month ago after running through 3 resin straps.

I picked her up from princetonwatches.com when I was in the US, and she was running fast when she was new. She now keeps impeccable time thanks to the services of Rodeo Watch store on Richmond Road, Bangalore.

I think she's cool enough to flaunt at work and a nightclub, and classy enough to also dress up a staid suit. I wore at her my wedding, despite my father's intense dislike of her orange dial.

Ladies and Gents, I present the Seiko Orange Monster

It must be the pic but the dial is actually looking pinkish. One question - how many times have you serviced it? Can't believe you can pull it off with a suit

Maybe he means a swim suit

On a more serious note, that's one eye catching watch you have there, Ice! What's the model #, and if you don't mind, the price when you bought it?

Cheers,
Vikram

I have the same watch, you can see the pictures here. http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/shifti...ml#post1666842
SKX 781 is the model number. Mine is almost 4.5 years old.

re: Which watch do you own?

I acknowledge getting older.
I'm usually a sucker for multi dials in a formal, and this had been lying around for some time.
Yesterday I spotted it and felt, hey, that's okay!

Shortened the strap, and here it is.

Thanks Vikram. I meant a regular, wedding type suit. My marriage wouldn't have lasted too long if I had shown up in what you mention! And I'd have probably knocked off a couple of aged relatives with suspect tickers.

It is the SKX 781, and I bought it through Princeton Watches' website when I was in the US, for $240 if I remember correctly.

Thanks!
Serviced it once in 10 years, and that was a couple of year ago, at Rodeo Drive in Bangalore. And yes, my mobile camera pinkified the dial a wee bit

Thank you! I actually don't take too much effort in maintaining it, per se. I just guard it with my life - I have a 2-year old who is an aspiring watch tester. I fell in love with the watch when I saw it on the site, and worked an extra few hours at the college library to buy it.

And yes - it becomes a "timeless" design if I stop wearing it for a week or so

Nice one! Yours looks VERY well maintained. Mine has lost some of the black markings on the bezel over the years.

re: Which watch do you own?

There is a good deal running on http://shopping.indiatimes.com/fashi...n-men-watches/ , they have 30% additional off on the watches. One can get a really nice deal.

The code is FLASH3011. I am not related to the website at all, just sharing a good deal.

re: Which watch do you own?

Got a mail from eBay, there is a 77% off on Tissot and Emporio Armani watches. 20-30K watches now cost just 7-9K
Are these original? How come this rate?

re: Which watch do you own?

Dont ever buy watches from ebay especially the heavily discounted one's. They are fakes.
