I do not mind Samson as an opener-keeper provided there is some level of consistency. Previously he has been backed & gotten opportunities as well, lets see how he delivers under this new management of SKY-Gambhir. I have no doubt in my mind that Ishan Kishan will make a comeback post his disciplinary issues with the Board now that he's turned out consistently for Jharkhand.

Jaiswal hasn't even been picked in T20s yet! Jaiswal-Samson would be an exciting comb no doubt. I would rather have him play Test Matches next few months. Eventually he'll replace Rohit in the ODIs that is provided the format survives.

Re: The Cricket Thread

And now its Duckett's turn for the century.

What a sad sight of Pakistan test cricket who have produced some of the fast bowling legends in the past and have come down to 34 overs of spin bowling out of 40 overs with new ball on day 2, simply wow, looks like another thrashing is on the cards.

Re: The Cricket Thread

33/5, KL Rahul fails again when needed, Top order crumbles again, same old story.

What is even more baffling is why did Rohit choose to bat and play three spinners with weather to be overcast throughout the next three days as well.

Edit: Make it 34/6

Re: The Cricket Thread

Very bad situation for India. Most of the time, visiting teams beat India in Bengaluru. Its 8-6 in our favour ! Not sure about other grounds. Weather is not good for us

Winning the toss and batting ?

Gambhir and Rohit made a blunder reading the conditions. And then they played Kuldeep in place of Akashdeep knowing fully well it will rain all days in Bangalore.

34/6 isn't just abysmal. It's catastrophic. Batters played some horrible shots as well. Pant is lucky to be there with that sitter dropped.

Till when we will keep carrying Virat is beyond me now. Even Pak dropped babar. Kohli doesn't wants to play domestic and rectify his batting flaws and prefers chilling in London whenever he can. It's time he should be dropped and asked to go back to domestic.

All my hopes are on Ash Anna and Pant to take us to 150+ atleast.

From cricbuzz-
34 runs is the lowest at the fall of the 6th wicket for India at home since 1969. The previous lowest was 27 runs against New Zealand at Hyderabad.- cricbuzz

Re: The Cricket Thread

With Bumrah at our side why would we even want to bat first is beyond me!!

This is our own making, and I agree on you for Kohli, too long now.

Hopefully Pant makes use of the drop and Ashwin can help us out one more time and get us close to 150 somehow.

At the lunch break, India reeling at 34/6 in the Bangalore test vs New Zealand!

Re: The Cricket Thread

Overcast rainy dull gloomy conditions and India opts to bat and create their own Bazball effect, don't know what's going on in the heads of Rohit and Gambhir to make such a horrendous call.

Counterattacking bowling in such harsh conditions is simply foolish and India is paying the price. Now they have to play the rest of the game trying to draw the match, unless Pant & Ashwin does some miracle and Bumrah gets the similar conditions to exploit, highly unlikely though. Its a catching up game now for India.

Meanwhile another interesting test match is on the cards for our neighbors with 70 odd runs lead and 3rd day in progress.

Edit - 8 down, Interesting times, falling like a pack of cards, reminds me of the Aussie test.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Not making excuses for this horrendous display of "batting" but I honestly feel there should have been a longer break after the Bangladesh series.

40/9 now!

New Zealand also got same time after the hammering they got from Sri Lanka, but see the hunger. It was a tactical blunder to Bat first. The batting has come sitting duck even if we had lost toss and was asked to bat first. Cherry on the cake is we have three spinners!

This top order has been a complete Dud from some years now.

46 All out, third lowest score ever, worst at home.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Done and dusted below 50, lowest ever score in India, Thanks Rohit & Co.

Lets see what Bumrah & Co can produce now on similar conditions.

Bangaloreans - What's the forecast for the next 3 days ?

Time to grab some popcorn.

Re: The Cricket Thread

I'm sorry to say this, but India deserves this. It was always on the cards. Rohit and especially Gambhir have been quite loud during press conferences. It's easy to talk big, it looks good when you back it up with your performances on the field. But when you fail, the daggers will be out for sure. Having a fearless mentality is important, but you must respect the playing conditions and the opposition. As has already been voiced by others on the forum, choosing to bat first is an absolute blunder. Regardless of the match result, this is one of the worst batting performances ever by India on home soil.

It was supposed to be raining today also, but sun is peeping out. Forecast is still for rain for tomorrow and periodic showers on Saturday and Sunday.
