I was on my bike at noon.
The old alternate route is still open.
So we have cars merging in at almost 90 degrees from the left hand side.

This is causing a jam right at the edge of the exit from the underpass.
Added to this confusion was a punctured transport cab just 10 meters away on the slope.

They will need to close the alternate route or at least provide a way to merge in at a better angle.

Maybe they can set the underpass for only cars and force the bikes into the alternate road.

This will help in smooth flow of traffic.

Agreed. Also, the road leading into the underpass is 4 lanes, whereas the underpass itself is 3 lanes. This was causing a jam at the entry of the underpass in the morning when I crossed it around 10 30. That stretch generally takes me 10 mins in the morning, today these two jams took away 25 mins of my time.

I think the root cause of the traffic is the red light at TCS Deccan park. That backs up all the way till the point at which the underpass and the old alternate route merge. If the traffic isn't backed up till there, the vehicles will probably merge alright.

I think the light at TCS Deccan park should be removed. Instead provide islands for U turns.

I am of the opinion of closing U-Turn opposite to IOCL Coco Bunk. It will force users to use the overpass properly. They should make sure the signboards should be big to alert drivers accordingly.

As Shifu mentioned, the side lanes are very narrow, but I am sure we will wake up one fine day to see road broadened on the sides.

^^ Absolute mess at the Mindspace underpass, yet again - 2 days in a row. It took me 25 mins to cross this mess, it used to take max 10 mins previously. It is better that they close it back and open when they have some plan in place.

I am going to use the Kondapur road for few weeks from now on.

I was also there in that mess sir and took almost 30 minutes for me to enter Mindspace gate from Cyber Towers. I have not expected that this underpass deteriorates the traffic scenario on that road .

Re: Hyderabad: Updates on traffic - diversions, road expansions, alternate routes, etc.

I too faced hellish traffic at 945 pm on my way back from work. Normally I take a left just before HSBC and another left at Cyber Petal to turn towards Cyber Towers Jn. But today I was curious to see this underpass, so proceeded straight from HSBC towards Lemon Tree / TCS Jn.

Big mistake. it took me 15 minutes to reach the Junction and then decided to chuck the plan, so took a left towards Cyber Petal and Cyber Towers Jn. Proceeded by 100 ft road as Madhapur road seemed very crowded. But got stuck there for 10 minutes due to DUI checking. Finally reached home after 45 minutes total.

On the contrary, it took me only 30 minutes to reach office at 330 pm. Normally the timings are the opposite.

Looks like my pleas were heard. They have removed the red light at TCS Deccan park. Took the underpass this morning, absolutely no traffic!

Unfortunately though, if you are coming from Madhapur or 100ft road and need to go to Cyber Pearl, the U turn is like 2kms away!!

Re: Hyderabad: Updates on traffic - diversions, road expansions, alternate routes, etc.

This post is not about traffic but on a very serious traffic hazard. I think from this Monday, the traffic police has installed the cement barricades on the road to Deloitte/Ramky Towers when we take a left from Gachibowli-Miyapur road.

The barricades are just marked with a red cross and no safety features like sad bag or water drums are there. This is my daily route so I have already seen a couple if cars getting nicked from the same. Just yesterday, a biker fell down as didn't see the barricade on time and applied discs and his bike skid.

Similar barricades can also be seen on Botanical Garden road as well towards Masjidbanda.

This might be helpful in disciplining the traffic, however, at the same time, they also create a dangerous environment for people to drive/ride on as anyone can get seriously injured. More so since these places are full of young people like us.

Mods: Just wanted to put my point forward. Please feel free to move the post of required.

I'm one of those unfortunate souls. So instead of taking the free left at Cyber Towers and then a U turn near Cyber Pearl, I am now forced to go to work straight via Shilparamam and then a left turn at Matrushree Tiffins. Though the distance is roughly the same, the signal at Cyber Towers adds 8 to 12 minutes to my commute time.

I wonder how long they will keep that U turn closed. i don't see any Metro lines being constructed over the past month.

The free left at Cyber Towers is not free anymore. A pillar is being constructed right at the junction because of which the free left lane is pretty much completely blocked. Even the traffic police now doesn't bother to keep the left lane barricaded.

There are couple of new pillars coming up in the Mindspace-TCS Deccan park stretch. They are constructing at quite a rapid pace...

Re: Hyderabad: Updates on traffic - diversions, road expansions, alternate routes, etc.

Looks like the traffic restrictions at Cyber Towers/Hitech City starts from tomorrow (attached).

I park at Shilparamam everyday, and come from Gachibowli. Last week I had to drop a friend and had to take the "diversion route". From Lemon Tree, HiTech City to Shilparamam it took me 45 mins (I am absolutely NOT exaggerating). The reason was that CyberTowers signal was being green for some 15-20 seconds, and red for 250 seconds. I had to wait at that signal for 5-6 iterations.

I am dreading taking the diversion route. Hope some good sense prevails and that signal is maintained well.

It says only 3 months. I just pray so!

So how is the traffic now between Lemon Tree and Tech M? I heard it was terrible in the morning. My colleague took 45 minutes this morning to reach Anant Towers compared to 15 minutes normally.

How's traffic today? I hope it is better, as KTR seems to have got involved in smoothening it.

On Friday, I worked from home to avoid the mayhem that lasted till evening hours.
