We shutdown our office in Koramangala and everyone is heading back home.

I am on a TN bike, got home safely. The situation around Jakkasandra can potentially escalate, I saw people stop vehicles on the opposite side and also tyres were being put to burn on the road. I luckily was in the opposite Lane, managed to get through.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

I'm from Pune and had visited Bangalore for work a couple of weeks ago. I've been to Bangalore atleast 10-15 times over the past 3-4 years, so I'm not surprised with the situation of the traffic usually.

I usually stay at a hotel on Whitefield Main Road, this is the road on which SAP Labs is there. To get to this road, one has to take a right at a signal where there is a bus station and apparently a hospital known as Vydehi Hospital.

Now what pisses me off every-time I visit is that on this road, there are these electricity towers installed right in the middle of the road! The occupy so much space that if they were demolished at least two lanes could be made available, one on each side of the road. Now what gets me pissed off is this - why the middle of the road!? Couldn't this have been planned before!? It's not like Whitefield is an area of the old city and therefore whatever space was available was used!

There was once so much traffic on this road one evening, that it took me (in a cab) 1.5 hours to just cross one signal. And I almost missed my flight back to Pune (reached the airport 30 minutes before the flight was about to depart)!

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Traffic jams on all major roads, be careful.
We closed our office early and reached home before the roads got packed up.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Just travelled from JP nagar to Ramamurthy nagar via koramangala Indiranagar...did not find any issues. Some small groups gathered here and there. Lots of police presence.
Shops closed.
Broken glass pieces near Byappanahalli. Maybe the earlier attack someone mentioned.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Verified news at 1530:
Yelahanka:
Mobs going from shop to shop in and forcing down shutters.

Peenya Industrial Area:
Also being targeted by mobs asking all factories to immediately shut down.

Bellary Road (Rumour):
The A2B near Decathlon/Emmvee (Sir MVIT Road junction) has been damaged by a mob.
Situation very volatile - do NOT take any TN vehicle out at all. Remove any TN-centric imagery / establishment names from your premises or vehicles.

I dread the state of the thousands of KA vehicles trying to return through TN after the long weekend!

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Just got back home in CV Raman Nagar from office in Manyata. Entire MTP was in shutdown mode as people were all rushing home.

Sporadic crowds with KA flags on Old Madras Road, getting ready for a protest I guess.

Entire area near my home in total shutdown/curfew mode.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Intel closed at 4 PM. All those with TN cars were adivsed to leave them in office and take office shuttle. Ditto those who do not normally take the shuttle. Domlur was quiet. Victoria Road onwards is havoc due to heavy traffic

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

My wife's office in HSR has closed the gates and asking the employees to sit tight in office. Seems people are going and getting the shops and other establishments closed. Silkboard and hosur road is seeing some incidents as per my FIL.

Looking at google maps there seems to be lot of traffic on the roads now. Most of the areas are showing red.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Found these 2 posts on BTP's Facebook page, second one is not very clear - is it just to inform that protests are on at these places ?

Folks - if you're anywhere near those areas with protests in progress, please get to a safe place, avoid driving in those areas.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Just spoke to my wife in Manyata tech park, no cabs are leaving as the drivers don't want to venture out until some clarity on the situation.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Yup, many of my colleagues are stuck in office as the company cab drivers are refusing to venture out.

One way or the other, the evening commute is going to be terrible.
