Re: Servicing Costs of Superbikes / Sportsbikes in India

Got the 2nd Service done for the Kawasaki Vulcan S today. Bill attached. Total cost Rs. 3044.

I feel the labour costs are quite high considering most of these were just checks. Other than cleaning the air filter, adjusting the play in the drive chain and clutch, things like checking electrical systems should not be charged for unless there's any issue. Also, got charged for a final inspection! What does this even mean?

Got an Evotech radiator guard installed as well.

First service of BMW R1200 GS came to Rs 13.6k excluding washing and service intervals of 10k. It's the expensive BMW engine oil which is more then 2k a litre and 4 litre which is the big chunk of the service cost.

He checked all the parts and oils, cleaned the air filter, everything seems to be in good condition. The bike hasn't run much, only 4700kms since the 1st service and 6 months. Also, the manual does not suggest any changes for the 2nd service unless something out of ordinary is observed.

What oil is used by BMW for GS ? Ducati uses Shell 15W-50 for Multi and other bikes - around 1.1k a litre.

They use their own branded BMW oil 5w40.

Good news is that my next service will be cheaper for oil by Rs 600/litre. As the dealer had some stock of oil which was directly sent by BMW from Germany and now they will use same oil but sourced from Shell India through BMW hence reducing the cost by Rs2400 approx.

Hi Nilesh, This question is a bit of a tangent on this thread (sorry Mods in advance) but if you don't mind me asking, how much did you plonk for your preowned machine? I am looking at a 2017 sold/registered but 2015 mfg (Italy import by Ducati India) run approx. 5K kms and well maintained for 6.5L. Is this a good price given its BS3 credentials, discounted variant, etc.? If no, what price do you think I should look at? Would love to get your feedback on tgis one. Thanks.

That's a good price! In fact try 25-50k lower!

2.5k as labor for changing the oil and the oil filter? This is extremely expensive!

I thought Suzuki's were comparatively cheaper to maintain than other japs ( Kawasaki ). I believe Honda is the most pocket-friendly in this category.

Hi Guys,

Would really appreciate if someone can share the servicing costs and brief ownership experience for the Suzuki Bandit 1250S.

Thanks

Re: Servicing Costs of Superbikes / Sportsbikes in India

Is there no Africa Twin owner on this forum? Want to know what the difference in service and spares pricing is between a CBR650F and an AT. Will the fact that the AT is imported from Japan put a bigger hole in my pocket in the servicing department?
