I would suggest against painting of alloys as nothing can come close to Factory painting. Painting of tank etc should not be an issue. That color combo does look unique and appealing. Though there is a hint of the Ducati Monster with that paint job. <IMO>

Are you thinking of getting it painted while its getting ready? Got all the spares or still lots of delay ? When is the bike getting ready?

MT-01 Single Seat kit from Yamaha - $440 approx.

Remove paint and repaint alloys and frame + swingarm. Alternately just remove the paint and buff the alloys, swingarm and frame - its aluminium and will look killer. Couple of people have done it - you just need to coat it in matt-clear finish so the aluminium wont oxidize.

IMO,powder coating the alloys is the best way to go. I've been wanting to do that too,to my bike. Initially I thought a simple spray can would work (cheap stuff available in Walmart ). But that won't last long.

Johnny Bravo

You're a member at the MT-01 Yahoogroup (now sadly defunct).

Look up Kiwi MT-01s bike in the photo album and his writeup on how simple it was to take the paint off and expose the aluminium beneath - no need of a repaint.

Here are some pics of Dave's bike so others can see what it looks like:

Wow! Thats one clean bike! Most often the metal underneath the paint stays with a dull look, unless you get a clear coat (or two) on.
