Ashish,
I read this today morning and thought of posting it in this thread. But you beat me to it.

Seem like a promising place, practically a 'prati'-Kaas.

By any chance, have you been there? On second thoughts, let me take that back, you must have been.

I am going to spend some time later today to locate this on the map and do some basic research. Please see if you can find any additional information (how many KMs by car, route, how many KMs/hours of walk/trek, grade of the trek etc)

They are mixed. Only the Kaas Plateau was fogged on Saturday, so we tried a second visit on Monday as it seemed worth after doing such a long drive of 2000+ kms in 3.5 days. Rain welcomed us back to BLR Tuesday early morning

Very true, we tried our best in spite of rain and fog though, my DSLR was totally wet and dried atleast 4 times, thanks to the weather sealed body. Will try to post more as I process (RAW files).

Damn. The whole day weather has been poor in Mumbai. So keeping my fingers crossed about this weekend trip to Kaas.

@Super. Bol Bolero has pulled out the moment he knew I'm going there. So in all possibility the only person you may run in to on Sunday would be me. Praying for a clear weekend.

If you can I would recommend going on a weekday. It will save you a lot of trouble. Seriously

Re: Kaas and Bamnoli: Sep 2011 Team-BHP Meet

@nomadabhi
When we bumped into each other at Khed-shivapur Toll naka, I sure did surprise you didn't I? Well, it was my gut instinct, recognized that it must be you!
Nice meeting you too buddy.

And the enthusiasm shall never wane away!

The next time I'm in MH-43, I'll definitely let you know.
Just PMd you my mobile number.
Pari, F1fan & Yogesh seemed very inclined to meet-up too.
Like I said, there's a thread coming soon.

And, lol, that was funny man - tying up pari to the bumper & driving off. But I dont think pari deserves that. In fact him & yogesh's wife were our saviors for the day. Thanks guys!

@Silverado

Your nano has completely revised my outlook towards TATA motors!
Cruising at 100kmph, FE figures of 22kmpl, and negotiating the country roads, what else do you have under your sleeves?

Another proud Nano owner selfdrive had also mentioned to me before, that one needs to drive it for a longer time to believe what it can do.

Kudos to you!
Do try to jump in on the pune tapri meet thread.

@F150,

Hey Anvesh, good trip that.
That McD breakfast gave you some energy after a hard night at work the other day.

Let me know if you've got that IRVM in your car replaced.
And thanks for that shot of my Fortuner! The one taken from my mobile was crappy indeed. Sure the beast looks admirable between the wild daisies!

@ Ashish Bhau,

Bhau, sadly we missed the 'satara kandi -pedha' outlet. My wife wanted to bring some back. Should have told you earlier.
And Aryaman says "thank you kaka for the 5 star bars!"

@ Gostel,

After a brief meet at the Megameet (Sunny da dhaba), it was nice meeting you sir.

@Parimal

Glad you really enjoyed those vada-pavs at Shreeram's at Shirval!
Nice joint that.
Your help with the bullying did keep my kid (who is always turbocharged) in check. Thanks!
We already have exchanged numbers, will definitely try to organize a mini-meet when I'm in that part of the world.
Your friend Shailendra has some nice pics taken with his DSLR. Please share them here.

p.s. - Ani mitra, the names Satyen, not Satyendra. cheers.

@Keyur,

Nice meeting you and your friend Amogh (I hope the name's corect).
Want to ask your friend a little favour, he did like a mini portfolio with my kid and the fortuner. Can I get a copy of those snaps?
Thanks.

@F1Fan,
Hey Prashant!
What a day! A day well spent!
Nice kids you have. Did they like the strawberry toffees?

Let us know what you choose - A drives or XM1s?
We have to catchup soon, like a recovery meet!
Have your no. will text you and the guys soon.

@Yogesh

Man, what can I say! A big big thanks to your wife.
She was like the Angel who my kid got along well with.
Dinner's on us the next time we meet!

For you guys, it took some real determination to drive all the way from Mumbai to Kaas after having hardly any sleep!
You did great.

We have to continue our discussions further when we meet.

@scrooze
The man who gave us the news beforehand. Nice of you to post the live weather conditions a day before the meet!
So where did you and the boys end up having dinner that night - @chandni Chowk or @Hinjewadi?

@Kaushik & boys

Good to have met you, sid & shaju. At least you met a few representatives from T-BHP that day!
Hope you didn't get caught up in traffic while descending the plateau. Ashish & me were still for at least 1/2 hour there.
Have your no. will look you up when I'm in Bangy for the Met concert.
cheers

We missed up & above as suggested. We then stopped at sole curry near joshi wadapav. Food was Good and Naan were excellent.

Let us know when you visit this part of the world (Vashi - CBD).

We missed you too and feel sad about it even now. I wanted to meet you right from your Malaysia travelogue days We were happy to see the team-bhp stickered cars near the boating area. Parked our scorpio and went down hoping to meet the group there, we had no intention to do boating anyway. Came back up in few minutes, met 2 members (Monaro and I forgot the other name) and heard all others already left after having tea/snacks. We had our lunch there (it was hot and tasty) and drove back. Tried calling you guys throughout, but was not able to get through the bad network coverage. Anyway, there is always a second chance

Monaro - It was fun meeting you and Aaryaman! do bring him for next meet.

Nano has been surpising me as well with what it can do!
The best part was climbing the Ghat section while returning from Bamnoli lake, it did so effortlessly with 3 adults on board!

Yes will surely try to catch the Tapri meet , this time in my padmini

Yeah, we met at Mahendra, bumped into each other both at Thosegar and at the hotel (lunch), and we also saw your car parked near the boating point (just before the Kaas plateau parking). Maybe next year!
The Marathi is thanks to having spent the better part of my life (thus far) in Pune

Can't believe how refreshed I feel after that trip - it's been an unbelievably hectic week, but I'm still pulling through it just fine and raring for more!

Hey Satyen, great to meet Anvesh and you as well.We missed meeting the others :( . We would have been stuck in traffic but someone (I think Ashish?) communicated about the jam to Kaushik when we were on our way back, so we just hung around to get a few more snaps. This is one of Satara town at night.

Can someone do a quick translation/compression into english?
Is Raireshwar the fort which is a short drive away from the bhor-varandha state highway? If i remember correctly, when you drive from Bhor, you come to at-junction and you turn right for Varandha. If you turn left and then turn right, it goes to a fort-base. Or is this Rohida fort?

That's an excellent picture of Satara city by the nightfall.
Waiting for you and the others to upload their pics..

And hey, it was me who had called up on kaushik that evening.
Ashish also spoke with him then to say goodbye.

Re: Kaas and Bamnoli: Sep 2011 Team-BHP Meet

Visisted Kaas on 24th Sep. Luckily, the weather was fantastic for strolling and elaborate photography sessions. Parked at the base of the plateau and walked from there.

Was looking for any tbhp cars, especially a red Ikon with LTD sticker on the bonnet and MX6 as number plate
Unfortunately could not spot any TBHP cars. On the plateau, everybody was carless. So the possibility of bumping into and recognizing any tbhpian became remote. We should seriously consider getting some nice TBHP T-shirts.

Clicked around 1100 pics (covering Kaas-Bamnoli-Sajjangad-Chalkewadi-Thoseghar on 24-25th Sep)! A detailed travelogue with at least 300 pics coming soon.
