Try Meguiars Utimate Polish.
It is effective in removing the water spots.

Is there any specialized DIY product that deals with the older scalings effectively? Or should I simply use something like a toothbrush to gently brush them away with some concentrated car shampoo?
To remove scalings, use a toothbrush and take any good APC. Rub gently and you will see the scalings go away. The only concern is that what concentration of APC to use so refer the labelling and start with lower concentration.
After your are done, take a good polish with enough cut and rub over the areas with a pad to remove the mild abrasions left behind. If you can post some pictures here will be good to know what level of scaling are being referred to here. There is a good product from meguiars that is YET to launch and works on hard water marks.
If the deposits are around the logo, use a ear bud with the compound/polish to rub the paint where you used the toothbrush. If safely done, no issues to the paint

Re: A superb Car cleaning, polishing & detailing guide

So, a week back I had cleaned the interiors and floor mats with Meguiars APC and dressed them with Hyperdresser. Even today the car felt very new from the inside so did the foot pedals.

I've noticed, Hyperdresser unlike other dressing chemicals, doesn't attract much dust on the surface. Had gone for a ride on Sunday for the tbhp meet and the bike came back all dirty. Thanks to Hyperdresser all it required was a wipe with jopasu. No sticky dust either.

Hyperdresser has also been used on my engine compartment about a month back and till today my engine compartment hasn't required any cleaning.

This is one truly amazing product - lasts long and truly vfm. Both this and the APC. Thanks to Nirmal for suggesting this to me.

Although I do my car and bike bit by bit everyday, Im truly loving detailing. The entire week had been hectic and never got time to notice the fruits of my effort, but today I was pleasantly surprised to see everything so clean inside the car even after a week of usage.

P.S I wonder if the APC can be used on the fabric seats? :P

Uber Carwax for the Most luxurious cars

Stumbled upon this ultra expensive 24 carat (yes you read it correctly) exclusive carwax for the Ultra-Uber-Rich.

US$ 98,867.00 for a bottle of wax, shampoo and a scent and personally delivered to the customer by an Chief executive. I would like to call this as the Rolex of the Car Detailing World.

Hit up the source link for more information : http://www.mitchellandking.com/about...oldrush-rally/

Wonder if similar market exists for the highly customisable-exclusive yacht's ?

Need to order some clay soon coz tar marks behind the mudflaps are not going.
Have you tried optimum car wax? You will be surprised and may never use Collinite again.
For tar removal, get some Tar X from Mohsin of Ultimate Detailerz or Greenz Car Care.

I too have been approached by a guy trying to sell some wax bottle, claiming to be the CEO of the company. It was sometime ago while filling up my tank. Of course, he was also willing to throw in a wiper free with a bottle.

Not quite sure what you mean?

Let me be clear on this:

As far as I'm concerned, anybody selling or buying carwax at US 98,867,-- clearly has lost all sense of reality. I dont care how wealthy you are.

It's not forbidden by law or regulations, its perfectly legal to offer this for sale and to purchase it. I'd be the last person that would want legislation agains this sort of things. I'm a liberal at heart and the less laws and regulations and the more common sense a society has the better it is, as far as I'm concerned. But this is not lacking common sense, This is just a case of extreme poor taste.

I don't want to preach morality or ethics here at all. Everybody needs to do that for themselves.

But I do express my opinion, which is I find this obscene and despictable. Spending that sort of money on something so trivial shows that you have lost all sense of proportion in life.

With you on that. But then, we are not the target customers either, are we? It's meant for those who would go to any extent for that exclusivity. The more insane it sounds, the better.

Re: A superb Car cleaning, polishing & detailing guide

One neglected area of my car is the light colored interior ceiling which has accumulated more than it's fair share of dirt and fingerprints.
I was wondering how to take care of them - what's the specialist's opinion?

Planning to order the following, but need some confirmations (or better advise) before trying anything.

If you try a good all purpose cleaner, it will work too. No experience with the above mentioned products but an all purpose cleaner is meant for almost all surfaces based on the dilution used. Try a test spot before you use all over to know exact dilution to be used.

Re: A superb Car cleaning, polishing & detailing guide

Yesterday I got Jopasu duster(Rs 349) and Armor All Glass Cleaner(Rs 299) from Reliance AutoZone, HSR, Blr.

Earlier I was using California Car Duster for more than a year, now it stops cleaning the dust.

When I have used Jopasu this today morning, I'm more than happy. I must admit this is equal or better than California Car Duster.
