Re: Which is the Best Car Battery Brand?

I don't know if it is the quality of the battery or the car, my diesel lancer's battery, a Bosch silver was fitted on June 2005, still going strong after almost 75000 kms, she still starts at the first crank invariably, that makes the battery 6 years and 7 months old. The Amaron in my safari had to be changed in 2 yrs.

But then the lancer is my daily ride, the safari only occasionally - the long drives.

Re: Which is the Best Car Battery Brand?

I buught an Amaron battery in 2007 and till date its working perfectly in my Octy. Still even though its 6 years am thinking of changing it. Will go in for the same brand itself. Is Optima batteries available in Bangalore?

Re: Which is the Best Car Battery Brand?

I have shortlisted BOSCH battery for my Swift VDi. Are there any better options? I am not sure whether to go for DIN66 or DIN74. Please let me know what are the advantages of choosing DIN74. I intend to keep my car for many years to come.

Re: Which is the Best Car Battery Brand?

To me, Amaron battries are the best . We had got SF (2 years warranty) as OEM battery in our new Alto in 2002. It lasted 3 years. We replaced it with an Exide (2 years warranty) which conked off in exactly 2 years. It was then replaced with an Amaron (3 years warranty). The battery went strong over 4 years till the time we sold the car last year, it was still doing well.

Even my B-I-L had the same experience with an Amaron in his car. He purchased an Amaron (3 year warranty) in 2008 which is still doing well in his car.

Re: Which is the Best Car Battery Brand?

Was looking around inside the bonnet of my recently acquired Brio today and noticed that it has a SF as an OEM fitment from Honda. I have never owned vehicles with this brand of battery supplied as OEM so I am keen to see how long it lasts with regular/periodic maintenance.

Mine (Civic-AT 2007) also came with SF.

My (bad) experience:
Leaking/bubbling acid through the top after long drives.
Died at 2.8 years leaving me stranded on the highway (as mine is an Auto).

I think OEM batteries are not very well made and after any sign of weakness it will be wise to replace it.

For its advantage, it did not die suddenly though. It was showing signs of weakness and it was my mistake in not replacing it soon enough.

Replaced it with Amaron.

Thanks for the heads up. I will keep very close watch on the battery in the Brio considering that you have experienced problems.

No, it looks way too much. Whats the warranty period ? 2 or 4 ?
Not sure if you're aware of this, but also remember to check whether its a full period replacement warranty or not !! For ex. if an amaron battery is sold by saying it has 2 years warranty, it means 1.5 yr replacement + 6 Months repair.

Last time I checked the prices of an amaron battery for my ride it was around 6k. Have I missed anything ?

Re: Which is the Best Car Battery Brand?

I have AMARON Battery on my Baleno and my Father's Santro.
Baleno is a 2006 Model and still on the first battery that came with the car.
Santro is a 2007 Model and still on the first battery that came with the car.

In my opinion they are good as they have lasted so long for me.
Baleno has a 100w/90w head lamps, a four channel audio amplifier, Sub-woofer, whereas Santro is stock with no modifications.
