Hi guys,

I am planning to buy a pre-owned Skoda Laura TDI 2.0, its a 2012 vehicle with 75k odo. It has been serviced two months back and I did speak to the Skoda ASS and he told me there were no errors while they did the scan during the service.

However, I wish to check for the errors through VCDS cable before I buy the car. Anyone at Bangalore can help me with the VCDS cable. I also thought of getting it checked at a Skoda ASS, but the car is currently at Bagalkot and the nearest Skoda ASS is at Hubli, 120 kms away so the owner is not willing to get the car to Hubli for a check up before the sign off.

Hey, a lot of what you're looking for will depend on your BCM and sometimes very specific models of BCM. We could take out some time and tinker around a bit. However, I must warn you that since you'll be accessing some core functions of your BCM, please do exercise caution. You can find me at Dwaraka Service Station, opposite Ordnance Factory, Dum Dum. A friend based out of Thalassery, KL got hold of a VCDS cable through a vendor from Aliexpress (accessed through PC browser) last month. The cable came through from China and confirms that it works with his '19 Polo. He paid Rs 2300 through PayPal for the cable; no duties charged. Seller's store ID in Aliexpress is Shop5381341 Store. Took close to a month for the cable to arrive.













There's a caveat though - he had to play around with different installations of the software before he got it right. Works with both v21.3 and v21.9.

VCDS tweaks that have been accomplished:

• Comfort Indicator from 3 to 5 Blinks
• Refuel Info In MFD
• Passenger Mirror Dipping When Engaging Reverse
• DRL Toggle In MFD
• Fog Lamps Turn On When Reverse is Engaged
• Auto Mirror Fold On Locking and Holding For 2 Seconds
• Auto Mirror Unfold When Driver Door is Opened After Unlock
• Anti-Theft Alarm
• Engagement of Hazard Lights and Pulsing Brake Lights Under Panic Braking

Need help with the following:

• Needle Staging- Tried 17 instruments> adaptation > indicator celebration >
  Then it shows error channel not available. Will Give the 10 Adaptation>Staging>On a shot but any other suggestions are also welcome
• XDS, Brake Assist and Torque Steer Compensation- Need Clarity on these functions as to what are their pros and cons
• Reducing the Comfort Operation Duration from 2 Seconds to 0.5 Seconds( For faster window roll-ups and ORVM Folding)
• Acoustic Confirmation Lock/Unlock with MFD Toggle- As claimed by Tanveer 2558 in some early posts in this thread,The MFD Toggle is a priority.
• Automatic Headlight Senstivity Reduction(RLS Senstivity?) from 52% to 21%
• Full Size Digital Speedo in the MFD- My car currently has the alternative small size digital speedo only that sits alongside the outside temp readout.

• Easy Access Seat- Since my car has the powered driver seat, i was wondering if this can be activated as i seem to have read it somewhere.

1. There ain't any Christmas lights on the cluster but I'm still concerned about this ABS error, and the errors of the door control modules. I have not upgraded my tyres and the car was sitting idle in the parking for about 2-3 months after which this error showed up. It's a bone-stock Highline with 7 spoke VW alloy wheels and 185/60 R15 Apollo Amazer 4G Life (came to know that this error pops up due to incorrect coded diameter of the tyres).
   
2. I left a car with a mechanic to diagnose the problem of the rear fog light not turning on. He wasn't able to mend it but messed up with the fuses which had resulted in all these errors. I've checked all the fuses and the fuse diagrams available online and I suspect a blown fuse for this error as this popped after that incident.
   
3. The Heated Rear Window error, I checked all the wiring, checked the switch which works fine and also tested all the heating line in continuity with a multimeter.
